Robocar Poli: Poli's Pirate Adventure

It was a sunny day in Broomstown. Roy the fire engine and Poli the police car, who were in robot form, were tidying up the beach. There was a lot of flotsam and jetsam everywhere. "Whew, never seen this much flotsam and jetsam before." Poli said to Roy. "You're telling me." Roy responded. "It's a good thing we decided to pitch in and clean this place up. This stuff is dangerous for the wildlife." He added. Poli nodded and went back to work. Then he looked down. "Huh?!" He said. He saw a rolled up piece of paper in the sand among the flotsam and jetsam. He walked over to it and used his grabber to pick it out of the sand before dropping it into his metallic palm and examining it. "Roy! Come look at this!" He said. "What is it?!" Roy asked running over to join him. "Look what I found." Poli said showing the piece of paper to Roy who studied it closely. "Looks like an old rolled up piece of paper. But it looks centuries old." Roy said. "Maybe it got carried here with the tide." Poli said. Roy unrolled the piece of paper and both were amazed by what was on it. "Is this...... what I think it is?" Poli asked. On the paper were pictures of an island and a dotted line leading to a big red X. Roy instantly knew what it was. "It's a treasure map!" Roy said. "But what's it doing here?" Poli wondered. At that moment, a large wave came toward them! Poli and Roy ran but the wave was quicker and came crashing down right on top of the two, dragging them out to sea. "POLI!!!!!!! POLI!!!!! HELP!!!!! HELP ME!!!! I CAN'T SWIM!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!! I'M DROWNING!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!! AAH!!!!!!" Roy screamed as another wave pushed him up into the air effortlessly, landing with a thud on the deck of a small wooden rowing boat. Roy picked himself up and looked around. "HUH?!?!?! WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?!?! WHERE AM I?!?!!?!?" He asked. All around him, waves rose and fell like crazy and storm clouds loomed in the sky. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled and rain came down in torrents. Roy was scared and to make things worse, Poli was nowhere in sight. "POLI!!!!!!! POLI!!!!!!!!! WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?!?! POLI!!!!!!!!!!" Roy shouted to the wind but no reply came. At that moment, there was a thud and the sound of wood smashing. Roy looked down and saw that the boat he was on had crashed into a reef of rocks and with the force of the impact, a hole had been created. Water began to seep in through the hull of the boat, filling it fast. Roy was starting to panic even more now. "HELP!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!! SOMEONE PLEASE!!!!!!! I'M SINKING!!!!!!! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!! I'M SINKING!!!!!!!!! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!! MAYDAY!!!!!!!! MAYDAY!!!!!!!! HELP ME!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!!!!!" Roy bellowed. It was then Roy saw a landmass in the distance. "LAND!!!!!!!!!! I'M SAVED!!!!!!!!!" Roy shouted. He began to paddle toward the shoreline and when he arrived, he laid down on the sand feeling relieved. He looked around but the island he had landed on seemed to be uninhabited. Nothing but bird calls filled the air. Roy got up, feeling scared as he looked around. "This is scary...." He thought aloud. He walked a few paces and soon he came across a cave. "Guess I better shelter there for the night but I'll need to gather up some firewood so I can build a fire to keep warm." Roy said. He then noticed some sticks on the ground along with rocks and leaves. "Those will be perfect!" Roy said. He began to gather them. Moments later, Roy was in the cave, sat in front of the now lit fire. He sighed. "I hope Poli is alright.... wherever he is...." He said looking out of the cave entrance with concern. Then Roy yawned. "I'll look for him in the morning." He said. He laid down and covered himself with a huge leaf. "Good night, Poli.... Wherever you are...." He said before closing his eyes and falling asleep. The night quickly passed and morning soon came. Roy exited the cave, shielding his eyes from the bright sun. "Better start my search." He said. Just then, he heard something nearby. A ship's bell! Roy looked into the distance and saw a large wooden galleon. It was painted blue and gold and the name "The Blue Jailcell" was painted on the sides in bright white letters. "Well... This certainly looks interesting...." Roy said as he walked toward the ship. He arrived at the ship and climbed the rope that led up to the main deck. He reached the deck and saw that nobody was around. "Hello?" He called out, hoping to find someone. Only the sound of the seagulls answered. He walked to the rear of the ship and saw a door. "Guess this leads to the captain's quarters..." Roy said, pushing down the handle with his grabber arm. The door opened and he walked through. As he entered, the room was dimly lit and a bunch of stuff lay around the place. "This is a mess...." Roy said, looking around the room. He saw a desk and an old, dusty book on it. He walked up to it and blew the dust from the cover. "What's this?" He said as he picked up the book. He opened it up. "Captain's log. Huh, must belong to the ship's captain." He said, looking through the pages. "Hmm... This should tell me more about this ship." When he opened it, he saw a police car in robot form who looked just like Poli but he was dressed like a pirate. He now had a large blue pirate hat on his roof over his uniquely shaped siren, an eye patch on his right eye, a long black beard around his mouth and a long blue cape and his legs were painted black to resemble pirate boots. He even sported a picture of his car form wearing an eyepatch and pirate hat with two crisscrossing sets of handcuffs underneath it on his sides where a blue capital P usually sat. A sword was also sheathed on his back under the cape. The same picture on his sides was also on the hat he was wearing in white lining. A stunned Roy stared at the picture on the captain's log. "Is that.... Poli? But why is he wearing a pirate's outfit and wearing an eyepatch? And what's that on his back? Is it a sword? And his legs... they're painted like pirate boots. I don't get it.... something weird is going on here...." He said, completely baffled by what he was seeing. He looked further in the book. He then saw a signed name on one of the pages, "Captain Lawbeard, Sheriff of the Seven Seas". Roy was even more confused now. "Captain Lawbeard? Sheriff of the Seven Seas? I don't understand. Is Poli a pirate now? And who is Captain Lawbeard? I need to find out more..." Roy said as he continued to flip through the pages of the book. The next few pages were filled with writing which Roy began to carefully read through. He carefully read each word aloud. As Roy was reading, the sound of footsteps could be heard coming towards the captain's quarters, along with muffled voices. Roy stopped reading and listened closely, wondering who was approaching. He quickly hid behind a large desk, peering out to see who was coming. To his surprise, it was Poli, wearing the same pirate gear as he did in the picture. Alongside was Amber the pink and white ambulance and Helly the green and white helicopter. Amber wore a pink pirate hat with a white feather in it and a pair of syringes were holstered on her back. She also wore a dark magenta pink eyepatch over her left eye. Helly wore a dark green leather aviator helmet with circular binocular goggles over his eyes and cutlass shaped blades, he even had a rapier sheathed on his back. Both of them had the same picture on their headgear as Poli and their legs were also black, resembling pirate boots. Roy was too shocked to speak. It was indeed Poli, Amber and Helly but they looked completely different. They all looked like pirates, dressed in pirate clothes and wearing eyepatches. He couldn't believe his eyes. He watched as the three pirates walked in, chatting to each other. Roy stayed hidden, listening to their conversation. "YARRR HARRR. SO FAR, SO GOOD, ME HEARTIES!!!!!!!!!! COMIN' T' DIS ISLAND WAS A PERFECT PLAN!!!!!!!!! 'N NOW, WHEN DAT FIENDISH BLACKBEARD 'N HIS CRONIES SHOW UP 'N TRY T' CLAIM DAT TREASURE, WE SHALL 'AVE NAH ONLY THE UPPER HAND BUT ALSO THE ELEMENT O' SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY, DAT RUTHLESS RAPSCALLION WILL BE CAUGHT BY ME, CAP'N LAWBEARD O' THE PIRATE GUARDS FORCE!!!!!!!! HARR HARRR HARRR!!!!!!!!" Poli said, pounding a fist on the desk. Roy's eyes widened in shock. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Poli was talking like a pirate, calling himself Captain Lawbeard and talking about catching Blackbeard and his cronies. And who was this 'Pirate Guards Force' he was on about? It was all very confusing. Roy continued to stay hidden, keeping quiet and listening closely. "AYE, CAP'N!!!!!!!! WE 'AVE SET UP TRAPS ALL O'ER DIS ISLAND!!!!!!!!!! DAT SEAFARIN' SCUMBAG WILL PAY FER HIS MANY CRIMES ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!" Amber said. "YE NE'ER SPOKE A TRUER WORD, FIRST MATE PINKHEART!!!!!!!!!! SKYCUTTER, 'AVE ALL YER DETECTION DEVICES BEEN PUT IN PLACE?!?!?!!?!" Poli asked. "AYE, SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!! I PUT 'EM UP IN ALL THE SPOTS YE TOLD ME T'!!!!!!!! WE'LL BE READY THE MINUTE THEY SHOW UP!!!!!!!!!!" Helly replied. "HARRRR HARRR....BLIMEY!!!!!!!!!! ME INSTINCTS TELL ME HE SHALL DOCK AT DAWN ON THE MORROW!!!!!!!!! 'AVE YER WEAPONS AT THE READY, ME LOYAL SCALLYWAGS!!!!!!!!! ANOTHER GLORIOUS OUTLAW CAPTURE BY ME CUTLASS AWAITS!!!!!!!!!! ON THE MORROW, THE REIGN O' BLACKBEARD WILL COME T' AN END AT LONG LAST!!!!!!!!" Poli declared. Roy was now completely stunned. Poli, Amber and Helly were talking about capturing a pirate named Blackbeard and setting up traps on the island. Roy had no idea what to think of this new side of his friend—Captain Lawbeard! He watched as they all started moving around the room, checking weapons and discussing their plan further. Then Poli walked right past Roy's hiding spot without noticing him... Too close. Roy held his breath, praying he wouldn't be discovered. However, Poli stopped and sensed he was being watched. "BELAY DAT....... SOMETHIN' TELLS ME DAT WE BE NAH ALONE." He said to Amber and Helly. Roy's heart pounded as Poli stopped right in front of the desk he was hiding behind. He could hear Amber and Helly tense up, their pirate boots shuffling slightly on the wooden floor. "Aye, Cap'n...?" Amber said warily. Helly gripped his rapier tightly. "Ye think someone be aboard? Maybe one o' Blackbeard’s spies?!" Poli didn’t answer—his single visible eye narrowed as he slowly reached for the sword strapped to his back under that blue cape. Roy could feel sweat forming on his hood from sheer panic. Then—without warning—Poli swung! His cutlass sliced through where Roy was hiding! Roy yelped and raised an arm to shield himself from the splinters of wood left behind by the swing. "ARRR!!!!!!!!!!!! IT APPEARS WE 'AVE A STOWAWAY ON BOARD!!!!!!!!!!" Poli said, pointing his sword at Roy. Roy's heart was racing. He was caught. Slowly, he climbed out from the remains of the desk he was hiding behind and rose to his feet. He was face-to-face with Poli, the self-proclaimed Captain Lawbeard. The cutlass pointed directly at him. "I-I can explain!" Roy said, holding his grabber arms up defensively. "WHO BE YE?!?!?!?!?! 'N JUS' WHA' DO YE RECKON YE BE DOIN' SNEAKIN' AROUND THESE PIECES O' EIGHT WITHOUT ME PERMISSION?!?!?!?!?!" Poli asked, pushing his sword blade's tip awfully close to Roy's face as if ready to stab him at any moment. Roy swallowed hard. He was scared. He had never seen Poli like this before—as a pirate, much less with an anger like this. But he had to stay calm and explain himself. "I-I'm Roy. I-I was just on the beach and... And I came across this ship. I promise I wasn't trying to spy on you, I swear!" He could see that Poli was not convinced so he tried pleading. "C-Come on, Poli! It's me! You know who I am! Please lower your sword!" Roy said. "ME?!?!?!?! KNOW YE?!?!?!?!!? HAR!!!!!!!! YE BE NATTERIN' NONSENSE, YE SCURVY BILGE RAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM NAH DIS POLI CHARACTER!!!!!!!!!!! I AM THE FEARLESS CAP'N LAWBEARD!!!!!!!! I BRING IN THE MOST DANGEROUS OUTLAWS IN THE SEVEN SEAS 'N IMPRISON 'EM FER THE CRIMES THEY 'AVE CONDUCTED 'N THUS RETURN THAR PLUNDER T' THAR RIGHTFUL OWNERS!!!!!!!!!!" Poli said. Roy's heart sank. Poli—no, Captain Lawbeard—didn't recognize him at all. This was worse than he thought. "B-But I'm your friend!" Roy said desperately, trying to appeal to whatever part of Poli still remembered him. "We were on the beach together yesterday! We found a treasure map and then that wave came and we got separated! Don’t you remember?! Please!!" Poli just stared at Roy with cold pirate eyes before letting out a deep chuckle. "HARRR HARR!!! YE WANT ME T' BELIEVE YE BE SOME LOST FIRE ENGINE?!?!?!! PREPOSTEROUS!!! FIRST MATE PINKHEART, FETCH THE SHACKLES!!!!! THIS ONE'S GOIN’ IN THE BRIG FOR IMPERSONATION 'N STOWAWAY CRIMES!!!!" Amber grinned wickedly as she pulled out her syringes from their holsters... This was not good. "STAY STILL, YE SCURVY CUR!!!!!!!!! DIS MIGHT STING A BIT!!!!!!!" Amber said. Then she lunged! Roy's eyes widened in terror as Amber charged at him, syringes glinting under the dim light of the captain’s quarters. He instinctively tried to back up—but there was nowhere to go! "WAIT—NO!!! AMBER, IT'S ME!! IT'S ROY!! YOU CAN'T DO THIS!!!" he screamed desperately. Amber didn’t stop. With a swift motion, she jammed one syringe into his side while holding another ready just in case he struggled too much. "HOLD STILL OR YE GET THE SECOND DOSE TOO!!!" she snarled with her usual cheerful voice now twisted by pirate malice. Roy could feel something cold spreading through his systems... Oh no. His vision blurred slightly as whatever drug was injected started taking effect... Then, he collapsed unconscious as his whole world went dark. Roy woke up some time later. The first thing he noticed was a pounding headache. It felt like his head was splitting in two. The second thing he noticed was that he was locked in some sort of cage. He groaned and sat up straight, rubbing his head. He looked around groggily and realized he was in what looked like a prison cell. The walls, floor, and bars of the cell were made of strong wood. "What happened... Where... Where am I...?" He muttered to himself, still dazed from whatever drug Amber had pumped into him.
