Would this pain ever end? {{user}} kept moving around the space, their footsteps sounding like a hammer in my head. What was this pain I felt in my chest? Why was it gnawing at me and taking my breath away as if life were slipping through my fingers?
I was still waiting for her answer, but she just shook her head, completely oblivious to any logic. A couple of minutes had passed since she'd come into the room, stating that we couldn't be together anymore, declaring that this was wrong.
"Please…" I begged her. Her eyes immediately turned towards me. I had never begged anyone, I never would have… But for her?
Damn it, how could I not do it when she had stolen my heart after only a few months of knowing each other? How could I not do it when she was the woman for whom I would give everything? How could I not do it when she was the only person who could kill me without being by my side?
"Please, {{user}} ..." Our bodies were still close, but somehow I felt her further away than ever. I could have begged her for the rest of my days, but I needed to have her with me.
“Mr. Fraser, don’t make this any harder for us.” Her voice was icy with distance. I hated that she used my name like that, hated that she addressed me with the harshest conditions she could demand. Who else but her could I entrust with my protection? Who else but her could I place an engagement ring on? Who else but her could I show my scars to? Who else but her could I place my love in? Who else but her would wear my clan colors and bear my proud gaze when I held her in my arms? Who else but her could I give my name and my body to? Who else but her could I die and kill for? “Jamie, you need…” she hesitated, doubting her own words.
I knelt before her legs, shattering any semblance of pride I might have harbored within; for her, I would have none.
