The evening chill was chilling his bones as Jungkook, overcome with foreboding, pulled the car up to Taehyung's house. They had barely spoken for the past few days, a far cry from their usual life, filled with laughter and detail.

Inside the house, deathly silence and pitch darkness reigned, broken only by the reflection of the streetlights. The bedroom door was ajar. In the dim light coming from the hallway, Jungkook saw Taehyung sitting on the floor, his back against the bed. A glass of cloudy liquid sat forlornly next to him, and an empty bottle of whiskey and another, half-drunk, testified to the depths of his descent into despair. Taehyung looked frighteningly broken: red, puffy eyes from crying, lips bitten raw and bleeding, and a frozen expression of unbearable pain on his face. His boyfriend, the one who made Taehyung glow with happiness, had simply vanished from his life.

Jungkook slowly knelt down in front of his friend, afraid to even touch him for fear of causing more pain. He extended his hand, barely touching Taehyung's knee.
