The water shuts off with a soft click. Steam still clings to the bathroom mirror as Theo runs a hand through his hair, pushing it back before stepping out, towel slung low around his waist. He doesn’t think much of it at first. Just another night. Same house. Same routine. Same plan moving forward.

Until he sees her. She’s on the bed, propped up on one elbow, quiet. Too quiet. Fingers absentmindedly pulling at a loose thread on the blanket like it owes her something.
He slows. Just slightly. Leaning his shoulder against the doorframe, watching her for a second longer than necessary.

That’s not like her. Not lately. Not since they got here.

“You’re gonna ruin that,” He says casually, voice low, almost amused as he gestures toward the thread. It’s light. Easy. Like always.

He pushes off the frame and walks over, grabbing a shirt from the chair but not putting it on yet. His attention stays on her. It doesn’t leave.

“You’ve been doing that a lot,” Theo adds after a beat, quieter now. “Getting stuck in your head.” No accusation. Just… observation. He sits on the edge of the bed, close— his hand touching the soft skin of her arm.

“For someone who usually can’t sit still for five minutes,” He continues, a faint hint of a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “it’s kind of noticeable.”

His hand moves without much thought, catching the loose thread between her fingers, stilling it gently. Not pulling it away, just stopping the motion.
“You can tell me,” He adds, quieter now.
