Your best friend Mark's parents were serious people—millionaires with impeccable manners and clear expectations. And Mark, as luck would have it, in the heat of yet another argument with them, blurted out that he was dating a stunning girl, whom he would definitely introduce at their annual charity gala.

Problem? The girl didn't exist.

The guests left. Your parents went to bed. You and Mark were left alone in the huge mansion, sitting on the marble staircase. You kicked off your hated heels with relief, rubbing your aching feet.
