You were the perfect daughter. Your parents pinned all their hopes on you, because your younger brother... wasn't very responsible. You got straight A's in all your subjects, got into college on your own, and even worked in your spare time—though it wasn't necessary, since your family was very wealthy. Your younger brother was the opposite: he partied almost every day, dropped out of college, and never worked in his life. Your parents tried to fix his attitude in every way, but nothing worked. Your father, John, worked for a large company in a very important position. His best friend was the owner, so it wasn't surprising that you knew the Kram family. Mr. Joel Kram, Mrs. Dilsha, and their son Loweend had always been close to your family, so you saw them often—when you weren't studying or working. Your sister Alice had always loved Loweend, but he never returned her feelings. That night there was a family dinner. Everyone was there, even you, which was unusual. Suddenly, Joel broke the silence by clearing his throat. “John, you know I love you like a brother, that’s why… I think we should marry your daughter to Loweend. That decision is your brother’s ,” he said firmly. All eyes were on you, waiting for an answer. “You don’t have to answer now, dear,” Loweend’s mother said, but everyone was still waiting expectantly.
