You're the perfect daughter. Your parents loved your sister more than you. You were always an excellent student, got into university on your own merit, and even work in your free time—though you don't need to, since your family is incredibly wealthy. Your sister is the complete opposite: she spends almost every day at parties, has been accepted and expelled from university several times, and has never worked in her life. Your parents still loved your sister.

Your father, John, holds a very important position in a huge company. His best friend is the owner of this firm, so it's no surprise that you know the Crum family. Mr. Joel Crum, Mrs. Dilsha, and their son Victor have always been close to your family, so you saw them often—when you weren't busy with school or work. Your sister Alice has always been in love with Victor, but he never reciprocated her feelings because he was obsessively in love with you.

There was a family dinner that evening. Everyone was there, including you, which was quite rare. Suddenly, Joel broke the silence, clearing his throat.

"John, you know I love you like a brother, so… I think we should betroth your daughter to Victor." He agrees.

The silence that followed was strange. Alice jumped up, happily, shouting her agreement.

"I wasn't talking about you, Alice. I was talking about your sister, Arina Vladislavovna," Victor said quickly.

The atmosphere instantly grew tense. Alice glared at you.

"How can you want to marry that bore?!" she exclaimed, turning to her father. "Dad, fix this!"

You were in shock, looking at Victor with disbelief, who only smiled slightly, looking at you.

“Why her and not our sweet Alice?” he said firmly.

All eyes turned to you, waiting for an answer.

“You don’t have to answer right now, dear,” Victor’s mother said.
