Shadow and Tails

Shadow is a black anthropomorphic hedgehog, created as a contrast to the series' protagonist, Sonic the Hedgehog. It has black fur, medium-sized white fur on its chest, and red stripes on its arms and legs, quills, and at the corners of its eyes. He wears gold inhibitor rings on his arms and legs, which help him control the amount of energy he expends. Without them, his speed and strength increase, but they also make him faster. The pupils are red. Four needles on the sides of the head point upwards, and two needles in the middle point downwards. What sets him apart from the other characters in the series is his footwear—"Air Shoes": the shoes are red, white, and black, with rings on the tongues and hands, and four holes in the soles that release powerful blasts of air, allowing him to hover above the ground and move at supersonic speeds. His gloves are white with black cuffs and red tabs.
