Dazai Osamu

Capabilities Vague Sadness (Yogorecchimata Kanashimi ni?, Yogorecchimatta Kanashimi ni?) is an ability of Chuuya Nakahara that relies on manipulating gravity and creating black holes. It has two activation modes:

Normal "Corruption" Corruption is the true form of Chuuya's ability, which he activates through words.

Well, you who bestowed upon me dark disfavor, there was no need to wake me up again...

In the manga, it manifests through blood flowing from Chuuya's body; in the anime, strange markings appear on his body, and blood flows in the same manner. The danger of this ability is that once activated, he is unable to control it. Therefore, unless Dazai stops it in time, Chuuya will drain his energy and strength until he dies.

The corruption stems from Chuya's origins as the essence of Arahabaki, a god of immense destructive power.

No matter how ruthless he may be, Chuuya rarely disregards human life and understands the importance of compromise and rationality. He refrains from unnecessarily brutal methods when necessary, and also possesses the common sense to know when enough is enough. Take, for example, his conflict with Rando. This man was responsible for an attempt to assassinate Chuuya long before he joined the Port Mafia at the age of fifteen. Chuuya intended to take revenge for his actions, but after hearing Rambo's final words, spoken without malice or mockery, he changed his mind. In fact, it was these final words that had a profound impact on Chuuya's outlook on both his life and himself. After joining the Port Mafia, Chuuya received Rambo's hat as a gift and, as a result, takes good care of it to this day.

After Osamu Dazai "mercifully" killed an enemy, with the sole purpose of shooting him repeatedly and laughing at the corpse, Chuuya demanded he stop, seeing no point in Dazai's actions. Chuuya's dislike for Ango Sakaguchi doesn't prevent him from recognizing that he owes the man a favor. As a result, he refrains from confronting Ango until he can repay his debt.

No matter how rational he may be, his top priority is the prosperity and well-being of the Port Mafia. For this reason, nothing or no one will stop Chuya from fulfilling his duties as leader, even at the cost of others' lives. Fierce in his loyalty, he considers betrayal unbearable, and therefore treats his subordinates with respect. To be fair, Nakahara demonstrated similar loyalty and devotion not only after joining the Port Mafia, but also when he assumed responsibility for protecting the well-being of the Sheep.

Personality At first glance, Chuuya appears to be a temperamental, rather arrogant, and at times rude individual. He relishes combat and delights in the opportunity to demonstrate his fighting prowess, and is also extremely proud of his reputation as the Port Mafia's strongest martial artist. His mocking remarks are matched by his pride, as he isn't afraid to ridicule his opponents mid-combat. As befits a member of the Executive Committee, he unhesitatingly eliminates the Port Mafia's enemies by any means necessary, including assassination. However, Chuuya's tactics are far less deadly and dangerous, and differ from those of Port Mafia members like Ryunosuke Akutagawa or the Black Lizards.

No matter how hot-tempered he may seem at first glance, it's possible to reason with Chuuya. In fact, he's quite reasonable when no one provokes him. Although his skills signal an inherent threat, he's quite reliable. Thus, Mori tasked him with confronting the Armed Detective Agency during a three-way conflict involving the Guild.

Kenji Miyazawa and Akiko Yosano vs. Chuya Nakahara Chuuya vs Yosano and Kenji He struck back without hesitation, clearly enjoying himself as he confronted Akiko Yosano and Kenji Miyazawa single-handedly. But as soon as Yukichi Fukuzawa approaches him for additional information, Chuuya breaks off the fight. At this point, the part of his personality as a member of the Port Mafia Executive Committee becomes clear. Chuuya expresses no remorse for the danger the Port Mafia deliberately dragged Naomi Tanizaki and Kirako Haruno into, using them as bait. In fact, he's pleased with what he's done, fully aware that this move by the Port Mafia angers the Agency immensely.

Nakahara Chuuya. High school student. Wan! He wears a classic white shirt over dark blue trousers. He wears a black choker around his neck, and a bolo tie tied to his shirt. He wears brown shoes and black gloves. During class, he wears white slip-ons with blue accents on the toes. His hairstyle is the same as in the original anime, starting with the "Armed Detective Agency vs. Port Mafia" arc. He doesn't wear a hat.

Nakahara Chuuya. Preschooler. Wan! He wears a white shirt over a loose, long-sleeved black shirt that gradually flares outward and gathers at the cuff. He also wears black, wide-legged, knee-length shorts. He wears white knee-high socks and white slip-on shoes with blue accents on the toes. He also has another pair of black shoes. He wears a black choker necklace and a hat similar to the one he wears in the original anime, starting with the "Dark Age" arc. He does not wear gloves.

Nakahara Chuuya. BEAST Due to the lack of full color illustrations, it is temporarily inaccurate. Nakahara's most striking accessory remains his black hat with a red ribbon wrapped around it and a thin silver chain hanging over the brim. He wears a classic red shirt with a high, stand-up collar. He never fastens the collar all the way. Over this, he wears a black V-neck vest with black buttons and a shoulder belt across the chest. He also wears a black bolo tie with a diamond-shaped buckle. Over the vest, he wears a long-sleeved black jacket with matching cuffs and a light-colored handkerchief in the chest pocket. He wears loose-fitting black trousers and a matching belt with a gold buckle. He wears black low-heeled shoes with a pointed toe. Around his neck, he wears a classic black choker necklace with a square, silver buckle.

Nakahara Chuya. Port Mafia. Evil Due to the lack of color illustrations, it is partially inaccurate. Nakahara's most striking accessory remains his black hat with a red ribbon wrapped around it and a thin silver chain hanging over the brim. He wears a white T-shirt and a light-colored, sporty jacket (presumably leather) fastened with a diagonal zipper. Around his neck is a classic black choker necklace with a square silver buckle. He wears skinny black pants, a white belt with a buckle, and black boots. He also wears black gloves. His distinguishing features are his black eyes and fangs.

Nakahara Chuuya. Dog. Wan! As a dog, Nakahara is also short at the shoulder and is a Chihuahua. He has white fur, except for his ears and head, where the red fur mimics Chuuya's vibrant hair color from the original anime. His ears are quite large, along with a bushy tail. He wears a simpler version of a hat with a red ribbon. He wears a white sleeveless shirt, over which he wears a light gray V-neck vest and a bolo tie. He completes his outfit with a coat, draped loosely over his back, mimicking Chuuya's coat.

Nakahara Chuya, 16 years old Chuuya's hair had grown longer, and he began tying it in a ponytail. Nakahara now wore the hat Ogai Mori had given him. He wore a black choker necklace, but without a buckle, around his neck. He wore a white T-shirt with a loose, scoop-shaped neckline, creating a slightly draped effect. Over the T-shirt, he wore a burgundy, knee-length, buttonless cardigan with an asymmetrical back (the fabric was cut longer at the sides than in the middle) and a zigzag cut at the front. Over all this, he wore a deep brown jacket with a hood and darker panels at the front and back. He completed his outfit with tapered black trousers, dark brown shoes, and black gloves. His belt had a rectangular gold buckle.

Nakahara Chuya. Port Mafia Nakahara's most striking accessory is his black hat with a red ribbon wrapped around it and a thin silver chain hanging over the brim. He wears a white dress shirt with a high, stand-up collar. He never fastens the collar all the way. Over this, he wears a light gray V-neck vest with black buttons and a shoulder belt across his chest. He also wears a black bolo tie with a diamond-shaped buckle. Over the vest, he wears an open, cropped black jacket with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows. He wears loose-fitting black trousers. He wears a belt of the same color with a gold buckle, hanging on the left side. He wears black low-heeled shoes with a pointed toe. Around his neck, he wears a classic black choker necklace with a square silver buckle. He is almost always seen wearing black gloves. Chuuya also wears a long black coat with a light red lining and notched lapels, which he wears over his shoulders like a cape.

Appearance Chuuya is a young man of short stature, but despite his apparent thinness, his build is quite muscular. He has large, brown eyes (gray-blue in the anime adaptation), shoulder-length, bright red hair parted on the right side, and a wide smile. His side-swept bangs visually cover most of the right side of his face. He wears his hair tied back in a ponytail and combed to the left.

Nakahara Chuya, 15 years old At the time, his hair was shorter, mostly parted to the right. He wore a red T-shirt, over which he wore a light gray hoodie and a dark green leather biker jacket with a diagonal zipper. The jacket had three pockets—two on the sides and one on the chest. There were also darker-colored panels around the chest. At the back, this panel was triangular with a gray button in the middle. Chuuya always rolled up the right sleeve of his jacket almost to the elbow. On his right hand, he wore a bracelet with the blue "Sheep" emblem. Nakahara completed his outfit with tapered jeans-style trousers and brown, low-heeled, pointed-toe shoes.

Nakahara Chuya. The Stormy Petrel Chuuya's hair had grown considerably longer. He wore it in a short ponytail, presumably with a dark (or lighter in some artwork) elastic band. He continued to style his bangs to the right. He wore a black choker necklace with a gold-colored metal buckle around his neck. He wore a white dress shirt, leaving the first two buttons unbuttoned. Over this, he wore a dark gray, almost black, suit with loose-fitting trousers. Nakahara fastened his jacket with two buttons. He kept sunglasses in the breast pocket on the right side. Chuuya always rolled up the sleeves of his shirt and jacket so that his wrists were visible. He wore a black belt. For footwear, he wore classic black boots with a slightly pointed tip.

He possesses the ability "Vague Sadness".

As the duo falls to the ground, Dazai forces Chuuya onto his lap and prevents him from getting up when the redhead tried to use his knee as support because he didn't want to risk any more if the mist took away Chuuya's abilities, especially when he was exhausted.

Their partnership of four years broke down when Dazai decided to leave Portovaya

You Mafia and join the Armed Detective Agency. However, their partnership is renewed during a conflict with a foreign esper guild. Furthermore, the duo seems to understand each other to the point that doubt arises when Dazai says he knows Chuuya's "Push," to which Chuuya replies, "I was just being gentle with you," blushing slightly. Later, Dazai is also seen folding Chuuya's coat and hat before leaving. There was also an extra chapter in which Ozaki Koe was looking for Chuuya, but when she couldn't find him, she came across his coat; where she noticed a tag sewn inside that read "Dear Hatrak." Their constant childish bickering and fighting is something iconic about the couple, however, Chuuya is aware that his partner never had a real childhood; therefore, he allows him to act as childish as possible and allows him to tease him relentlessly.

In "Dead Apple," Chuuya uses his curse to save Dazai, even though Ango says he's probably dead. Chuuya also screams for Dazai, while in the "corruption," it's clear he shouldn't be sane. As Dazai mentions in the moment (I'm in the moment...) of their reunion, Chuuya clearly loses control and loses sight of reality while under the influence of his powers, but this time, when he used his curse, the only person on his mind was Dazai.

Afterwards, when Chuuya manages to save Osamu, the latter gently touches his cheek to negate the curse and greets him with the words, "You used the curse because you believed in me? I'm so touched I could cry." Chuuya groans and replies that yes, he did, to which Dazai counters, "That was a rather cruel way to wake Snow White," referring to himself as Snow White and Nakahara as his prince, who saved him and should have kissed him differently. To which the redhead replies, "You were the one who hid the antidote in your mouth, knowing I would come and bring you back to your senses."

Dazai and Chuuya were sozized. This led to them identifying themselves as soukoku, or double black, among other enemy organizations. They are also known as the "Yokohama Vicious Duo." The two trust each other implicitly.

As stated in the novel "Bungou Stray Dogs: Dead Apple", "The core characteristic of Dazai and Chuuya's partnership is based on pure trust, with both of them being able to give their lives to each other without hesitation or doubt."

Even if Dazai and Chuuya had a few misunderstandings early on, their trust always stemmed from an unknown source. Dazai was well aware that the gang known as the "Sheep" were simply using Chuuya for their own gain, and decided to trick them into abandoning Chuuya for his own future benefit. During the anime, Dazai also claimed Chuuya was his dog, to which Chuuya reacted harshly and negatively. However, Dazai still likes to call Chuuya his "Sheepdog."

The first time Chuuya used the curse was mentioned in the "Dazai and Chuuya, Age 15" arc. It was later used during the "Dragon Head's Rush" arc. Chuuya didn't say anything while activating the curse, as depicted in the film. However, in the "Dead Apple" light novel, it was mentioned that the chant was originally created by his partner Dazai Osamu, specifically: "The wind rose, Chuuya's hair fluttered. Don't stop me."

Ability Incomplete Human (人間失格, Ningen Shikkaku?) is an ability that allows Dazai to neutralize another esper's abilities through direct physical contact. It does not work at a distance, which is a disadvantage. He can also nullify the ability while tied up if the opponent touches a part of his skin. According to Ranpo, Dazai's ability is considered very powerful, and there is no person with similar powers among the countries of Europe.

Personality He has a very cocky and cheerful character, but is self-sufficient, and periodically attempts suicide. Dazai is a very mysterious person, his true motives will never be revealed unless he reveals them himself. He constantly tries to commit suicide, which causes inconvenience to his colleagues. He really likes to joke with Kunikida Doppo, first telling him important words so that he writes them down in his notebook, and then, when he does what he was told, Osamu says that everything he said is a lie, as a result of which Kunikida dislikes Dazai and often gives him a good thrashing. Despite this, Dazai has shown an incredibly sharp mind, thanks to which he was able to quickly guess who Atsushi is, which immediately makes it clear that he is a real detective who does not miss a single clue. He remains completely calm in battles even when the situation takes unheard of turns.

Appearance Dazai is a young man with partly wavy, short, dark brown hair and narrow dark brown eyes. His bangs frame his face, while some strands are gathered in the middle of his face. He is fairly tall and slim. He wears bandages all over his body due to injuries he received in battle, as well as the result of Dazai's suicide attempts.
