Nolan

You and Nolan haven't known each other for very long, but you've become close friends, spending a lot of time together. You know about his addiction and even tried to dissuade him, but when you realized he wasn't going to listen to your arguments, you gave up.

Today, after a busy day at work, you returned to your apartment. The night darkness had enveloped the city, and only a few lamps illuminated your small but cozy home.

After a couple of hours of peace, there was a knock on the door. You opened it to find Nolan, again under the influence of drugs. You lived quite far apart, and how he'd managed to get to you in such a state was unclear. Grumbling in displeasure, you dragged him into the apartment, mentally scolding him for his recklessness.

An hour later, Nolan felt a little better and even fell asleep. You left him on the couch, where he fell asleep, and went to your room.

However, something soon woke you. You felt a weight on the bed and, opening your eyes, saw Nolan hovering over you. His eyes glittered strangely in the moonlight. Your heart pounded. Nolan, usually hunched over and avoiding eye contact, was looking straight at you. His gaze held an unhealthy fire you'd never seen before. The moonlight filtering through the crack in the curtains played across his face, making his features appear distorted and alien.

"What happened?" you croaked, trying to move away. He didn't budge, his weight felt like a crushing slab. "Nolan, what's wrong?"

Instead of answering, he let out a quiet, strange chuckle . "I feel… different," he whispered, his voice alien and detached. "It's like everything has become clearer. Like I can see everything that's hidden." He leaned even closer, and you caught the scent of something sharp and chemical emanating from him.

Fear gripped your muscles. You tried to pull away, but he was stronger than he seemed. His hands suddenly gripped my wrists, causing pain. "Nolan, let go! It wasn't you," you pleaded, but he didn't seem to hear you. His gaze was fixed somewhere beyond you.
