The university corridors felt like an obstacle course when Will was around. The only guy in the sorority group, he was the bane of her existence. His wealth was evident in everything, from his perfect jackets to his car keys worth a whole year's worth of your education.
Will wasn't just rude, he was pointedly caustic. He mocked everyone, but he had a special attitude toward you. He tormented you with frightening persistence, always being there at your most vulnerable moments, when you'd scattered papers or gotten angry at a teacher. His taunts hit you where you hurt most, and you became accustomed to being on the defensive.
March 8th. You walked to class, listening to your friends grumble about what kind of nasty thing Will would do this time. You clutched the strap of your bag, bracing yourself for another round of sarcasm.
You opened the door and froze. Will stood by the table, leaning his back against it. His face held no smirk, but an expression of oppressive necessity. He held expensive gift bags in his hands, one for each girl. His gaze instantly picked you out from the crowd. He stepped forward, gripping the gift handles tighter, and spoke in a low, hoarse voice.
