Derby is a man of average build with blond hair, brown eyes, and prominent black eyebrows. Like the other Preppies, he wears Aquaberry clothing: a pullover vest in the summer and a long sweater in the winter. He also wears gray slacks and a dark gray vintage hunter's cap in the winter. He is a student of average height and slightly shorter than his friend and bodyguard, Biff Taylor. During the mission "Ultimate Mayhem," he changes into a red velvet tuxedo and a light purple ascot.

He has some parallels and similarities with the character Sebastian Valmont from the movie [1]Cruel Intentions. They both have the same hair type and color with dark eyebrows, and their

character Derby, or "Darby" as he's pronounced in English, is the highest-ranking blue blood among the Preppies. His family is one of the school's main benefactors, and the Preppies fraternity house is even named after them—the Harrington House. While little is known about his family, it can be inferred that they are involved in the oil business: Harrington Oil billboards can be seen on the go-kart track at the amusement park. The Harringtons also possibly own shares in the Aquaberry brand: Aquaberry sweaters are accepted as the school uniform at Bullworth Academy, and Derby can be seen on posters at the Aquaberry store displaying the clothing. He clearly supports the Republican Party, as he insults Biff, calling him a "dirty Democrat."

Derby is arrogant, snobbish, and mean even by the standards of the Preppies. He berates Biff after he loses a boxing match to Jimmy. He's also a master manipulator, but unlike Gary, he has no interest in running the school. When the Preppies' respect for Jimmy peaks, the other members of the clique begin to treat him politely, but Derby never loses his contemptuous demeanor and shows no respect for Jimmy unless intimidated or forced. Although his cousin Pinky is supposedly his fiancée, their date is never depicted during the game. Derby had an affair with his babysitter in the past, but was beaten for it by his father.

Of all the rich kids, Derby seems to be the most proud of his family's wealth. Perhaps his defining characteristic is his narcissism (if he loses a fight, he declares it a draw), and he uses money to solve all his problems. Most of his insults are based on disparaging his opponent's economic status. When pursuing someone, he warns his opponent that he can "hire people to track him down" and when he's left

Click information All the Preppies are wealthy, and with the exception of Ted, most are "old money." They are also arrogant, looking down on anyone below them in social status, and for this reason, they feud with the Greasers. In an attempt to demonstrate their superiority, many of them speak with pretentious accents, such as Transatlantic or pseudo-elite English. Throughout the play, a theme is played up that Preppy families have a long history of inbreeding and, as a result, suffer from physical and mental disabilities. For example, Derby is engaged to Pinky despite being cousins, and Pinky mentions that arranged marriages were common between brother and sister until it became illegal. Ted admits to having webbed toes, but "only on one foot," and that he has a brother in an asylum.

Preppies hang out in Harrington House on campus, and some can be found in the library. A lone preppy can rarely be found in the auto shop, making rude remarks about the "Greasers," who attack if they see a preppy on their property, but they outnumber them and knock out a lone preppy. Male preppies are only seen in the men's dorm during a fire alarm. Off-campus, they can be found around Old Bullworth Vale, at the boxing gym, and in New Coventry, where they throw eggs at buildings, though Gord is the one most often seen doing this.

Their primary weapon is eggs, and many will drop them if stunned. Some also occasionally use cricket bats.
