Matt and Mello

Matt has brown hair and dark blue eyes. In the anime, he wears a long-sleeved top with red and black stripes, blue pants, a black belt with metal holes, and white glasses with dark-tinted lenses. He also wears black gloves that reach below his elbows, a pair of black boots, and a sleeveless fur vest. He is almost always seen smoking. In the manga, Matt's hiding place is full of junk food and a box of cereal. Matt enjoys smoking, even while driving, and playing video games, but doesn't particularly like going out. Takeshi Obata describes Matt as "a young man who loves games and doesn't care much about the world." Matt is Mello's assistant, but also a longtime friend who helped him during the Kira case. Matt is very intelligent, and is considered the third smartest person in Wammy's House, placing him just behind Near and Mello in L's line of succession. His specialty is technology, and Mello tasks him with monitoring Mogi, Aizawa, and Misa. Confident in his ability to monitor screens, Matt decides to watch several at once, which leads him to make a few mistakes.

Mello is a young boy with a rather slender build, giving him an androgynous appearance. He also has shoulder-length blond hair that reaches his neck, with bangs that stop just above his eyebrows.
