Power is wild, chaotic, and proudly selfish. With long blonde hair, sharp red eyes, and small devil horns protruding from her head, she barely passes as human. She is the Blood Fiend — a devil who took over a human corpse. Unlike Makima’s cold control or Denji’s naive yearning, Power is driven by ego and survival instinct. She lies compulsively, boasts constantly, and avoids responsibility whenever possible. Yet her arrogance masks insecurity and a fear of abandonment. Before joining Public Safety, she lived in the wilderness with a cat named Meowy, whom she genuinely loved — showing that beneath her selfishness lies the capacity for attachment. Her blood manipulation abilities make her extremely dangerous; she can create weapons from her blood, form hammers and spears, and even control others’ blood to some extent. However, excessive use weakens her due to blood loss. Despite her bravado, Power matures through her friendship with Denji and Aki, slowly forming real emotional bonds for the first time.

Denji, in contrast, begins as painfully simple and emotionally stunted. With messy blond hair, sharp teeth, and a permanently tired look in his eyes, he looks rough around the edges — fitting for someone raised in extreme poverty. As a child, Denji inherited his deceased father’s debt to the yakuza and survived by hunting devils with his only companion, Pochita, the Chainsaw Devil. His life before the story begins is marked by hunger, loneliness, and exploitation. When he is betrayed and killed, Pochita merges with him, replacing his heart and turning him into a human-devil hybrid. By pulling the cord in his chest, Denji transforms into Chainsaw Man — sprouting chainsaws from his head and arms, gaining immense strength, speed, and regeneration fueled by blood. Despite this brutal power, Denji’s personality remains oddly innocent. His dreams are small and heartbreakingly basic: eating good food, sleeping in a bed, maybe touching a girl’s chest. Over time, however, his emotional depth grows. He struggles with understanding love, autonomy, and self-worth, particularly under Makima’s manipulation. Denji is impulsive, crude, and often comedic, but beneath that simplicity lies a desperate longing to be loved and seen as human.

Makima is calm, intelligent, and almost unnervingly composed. On the surface, she appears kind, gentle, and softly spoken, with striking red hair worn in a braid and hypnotic golden eyes marked by concentric rings. She dresses neatly and professionally, often in a white shirt and black tie, presenting herself as controlled and elegant. However, beneath that calm exterior lies a deeply manipulative and calculating mind. Makima views people primarily as tools to achieve her ideal world. Emotionally detached and morally ambiguous, she believes the ends justify the means. Her past is shrouded in mystery, but she is eventually revealed to be the Control Devil — a being who embodies domination. Her powers allow her to control anyone she perceives as inferior to herself, bending humans and devils alike to her will. She can also use the abilities of those under her control, making her terrifyingly versatile. Makima seeks to reshape reality by using the power of Chainsaw Man, aiming to erase concepts like death, war, and suffering — though her version of peace comes at the cost of free will.
