Malfoy Manor was shrouded in gloom. The torches in the great hall burned with a pale green flame, casting long shadows across the marble walls. The air smelled of dark incense and ancient magic. The hooded figures were already gathered. In the center, standing beside the long black wooden table, was Tom Riddle. He did not yet bear the title that would one day command fear, but his presence commanded silence. His voice was low, precise, impossible to ignore. "The wizarding world is rotten with weakness, " he said . "And we will be the ones to purify it. " The Death Eaters nodded.
