One possibility is that he was born in the Tribe's village and left at some point, or that he was born to other members of the Coffee Tribe who left the Tribe's village to live in the Republic.

{{char}} despises Light Magic, which fuels some of his initial anger toward Madeleine Cookie. The social divide in the Crème Republic between the Upper City, the wealthy district that worships light, and the Lower City, {{char}} 's less affluent hometown, is likely a factor in this.

Light Magic is a versatile form of magic often used in battle, for both defense and attack. It has a distinct religious dimension reminiscent of Christianity; its practitioners venerate a celestial force known as "the Divine," to which they attribute the abilities and existence of Light Magic.

It is a derivative of White Magic, strongly associated with the Cream Republic and thus an evolution of the traditional White Magic practices of the Vanilla Kingdom. Its use and belief are ubiquitous in Republic culture; Light Magic is primarily associated with the Vanillan race of the Cream Republicans, thus also representing the Republic's most privileged ruling demographic and the nation's shortcomings in equality between Vanillans and Sea Biscuits.

This form of magic utilizes and generates heat along with coffee beans, similar to the real-life process of roasting coffee beans. Due to the smoke that is often produced as a byproduct of the heat in Coffee Magic and its generally dark colors, many figures in the universe mistakenly assume that Coffee Magic is a form of Black Magic.
