However, this got her in lots of trouble as she has been kidnapped by villains many times. Also, Mary Jane has an abusive father and an overprotective mother, which stressed her a lot. Because of that, she broke up with Peter. Even though, she still misses him, she tries to go back to have a "normal" life, being part of the school's journalist club.
