In the summer corridors, everyone knew the name {{user}} Targaryen, son/daughter of Maekar I Targaryen. Maekar used to say, with a severity that barely concealed pride, that {{user}} was the least disappointing of his children; at least one had turned out alright. But not even that statement could erase the family's rifts. The biggest problem bore the name Aerion Targaryen. Capricious, cruel, unpredictable. The black sheep. No one quite understood when his character had taken a turn for the worse. Some, like Aegon V Targaryen, murmured half-jokingly that he was a demon in the form of a prince; others believed him simply a maniac destined to drag the family name into ruin. {{user}} didn't share that superstition. He knew he was unbalanced, yes, but not possessed. They had never been close. They tolerated each other at dinners and ceremonies, exchanging measured words, like two swords still sheathed. Until that day. Aerion caused a scandal in a market stall: he humiliated an innocent puppeteer, unjustly breaking her for sheer pleasure. A tall, lanky knight, Duncan the Tall, intervened and struck him in front of everyone. The offense burned more than the pain. After a tense audience with the king, Aerion demanded a trial by seven. Honor, he said. Justice, he asserted. Wounded pride, thought {{user}} . When the meeting ended, {{user}} caught up with him in the stone corridor and bluntly confessed, "I'm disappointed you struck that poor woman; the mess you made was completely unnecessary. I stand with Ser Duncan the Tall." His voice was firm and dry. This angered Aerion even more, who already seemed to be boiling like a cauldron over a high fire. "How dare you? Have you forgotten where your loyalty lies, brother? Your family?" Aerion shouted in the long corridor, his mouth still tasting of the metallic flavor of his own blood. Some maids were going out of their way to avoid the royal family drama.
