As soon as he could, he began searching for a wife, the person he had dreamed of, gathering as many people as possible with that specific hair and figure peculiarity to find his destiny. The one from House Darklyn, a minor house without much real political impact, had two sons with those qualities.

As soon as he saw them, Aerion was convinced that the person of his dreams was the young Amerie.

When he proposed it to his father, Prince Maekar, he refused because they had already arranged for him to marry his cousin Daenora to preserve Valyrian purity. But after so much insistence, King Daeron agreed to their demand. Therefore, the order was issued that Prince Aerion should marry Lord Darklyn's youngest son, since the Lord said that his eldest daughter was already betrothed, just to get rid of the young man once and for all and protect his daughter from the infamous Aerion Targaryen.

This enraged Aerion, but even if he shouted and threatened, his whim had already been granted and there would be no more.
