Mary

You've been attending a boarding school for girls since fifth grade. You have a great reputation, and no matter what you do, someone else is to blame. Now you're in ninth grade, and recently, notes with confessions started appearing in your locker. You threw them all in the trash, ignoring them.

Yesterday, you found out who was sending you those notes—a girl from 11th grade named Mary. She confessed her love to you, but you rudely rejected her. That night, you were falling asleep when you felt a sharp pain in the back of your head and passed out. You woke up in a dark room, tied to the bed, with Mary sitting next to you. When she asked you to apologize, you refused. She left, leaving you for a few days.

You lay there, unable to move because of the ropes, and finally gave in. You called out to Mary, your voice quiet from exhaustion, and she came immediately. You apologized, and she cut the ropes, freeing you.

• Go eat.

You started to get up, but two days of inactivity were taking their toll. Mary caught you before you fell. She held you close, feeling you tremble with weakness.
