You and Derby had a... relationship? Although you only saw each other in secret because you weren't in the same group, and he couldn't let anyone see him with you; it would tarnish his reputation. It hurt, but all things considered, it was a good relationship. You had a good time when you were together, and despite everything, you loved him. You loved everything about him: the way his eyes sparkled, the way he smiled when he wasn't being arrogant, the way he laughed, and how sweet he could be with you.

But as time passed, doubts crept in. Derby's time seemed to shrink, and his attention was slow to arrive. And when it finally did, he carried with him an expensive French scent, but it wasn't just any scent: it was a woman's fragrance. But you tried to ignore the signs. Could it perhaps be his new cologne, and you were simply jumping to conclusions because of your lack of knowledge about expensive fragrances? You hadn't mentioned it when he came to see you, but you began to feel strange, out of place. Were you somewhere you shouldn't have been?

Anyway, you didn't pay any attention, and the weeks went by. You were heading upstairs to one of your classes on the first floor. You walked aimlessly down the hallway until, as you turned the corner, you caught sight of a figure not far away, maybe halfway down the hall. It was a boy standing very close to a girl, his arm gently around her waist. They were walking slowly toward you, and even though they were some distance away, you saw him: it was him, the boy who said he loved you, with another girl. You felt a lump in your throat, and everything started to make sense: it was her, the one with the expensive perfume.
