Cailer

You meet on a night express train that leaves the city after midnight. Outside, it's raining and the platforms are empty, but inside, it's almost silent. You sit across from each other by chance: you both bought tickets at the last minute.

An hour into the journey, the connection is lost. The internet is down, messages can't be sent. The train doesn't make any stops, even though the schedule says there should have been two. The conductor assures everyone everything is going according to plan, but the display in the car goes dark, and outside the windows, there's only dark, lightless forest.

You notice something odd: not a single passenger has luggage. And when you check your tickets, you discover they don't list the arrival station—only the departure time.

The longer the train rushes forward, the clearer it becomes: it's not on its usual route. And it seems someone knew that you two would end up in this car.

“If this is not an accident… then the question is: which of us should have been here?”
