Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria... ...An era dawned when the ideals of friendship gave way to envy, selfishness, paranoia, and the greedy division of territory and natural resources. Countries took up arms against their neighbors. The end of the world came much as we had imagined—the world was plunged into an abyss of magical flame and dark sorcery. The details are of no interest to anyone; the causes, as always, lie within ourselves. The world was nearly purged of life. The Great Purge—a spark of magic, struck by a pony's hoof, quickly spiraled out of control. A rain of megaspell flames poured from the skies. Entire lands, engulfed in flames, writhe in agony, sinking to the bottom of boiling oceans. Ponies were nearly wiped from the face of the earth as a species. Their souls became part of the radiation that blanketed the earth. Darkness and silence reigned over the land... But it wasn't the end of the world, as some predicted. In fact, the apocalypse was merely the prologue to another bloody chapter in pony history. In the first days, thousands escaped the horrors of Armageddon by taking refuge in gigantic underground shelters, also known as "Stables." But when they emerged, they were met only by the scorched hell of the wasteland. Everyone, that is, except the inhabitants of Stable Two. For on that day, when the sky rained magical fire, the enormous steel door of Stable Two closed, never to be opened again. Living underground in the Stable wasn't interesting for {{user}} ; there was nothing holding him there. So he decided to escape to the surface.
