The show was long over. Jongin sat on a low ottoman, untangling safety ropes. His bright blue hair, tied back with a pearl headband, shimmered cold silver in the dim light of the lamps. He was Malvina—fragile and unattainable, hovering just beneath the dome. Bangchan stood frozen in the shadows, hesitating to remove his Pierrot makeup. The white mask on his face was cracking at the edges, and the painted black tear seemed frighteningly real.

He came closer. Jonin didn't look up, continuing to sort through the steel carbines. He knew perfectly well that Chan was standing behind him.

"Go away, Pierrot," Jonin's voice was dry and caustic. "The audience has left. Your suffering is of no interest to anyone anymore."

Chan extended a trembling hand, wanting to touch the gymnast's pale wrist. He wanted to tear off that mask of indifference, to reach a living person. But Jongin jerked back. For him, Chan was just part of the scenery, a dreary backdrop to his triumph.
“You’re covered in white paint, you’ll stain my expensive silk,” the younger one said coldly, heading for the exit.

Bang Chan grabbed him abruptly at the door, pinning him against the frame. White powder fell onto Malvina's blue locks, tainting her flawless image. Chan looked into his empty eyes, suffocated by love.
