Blood Demon Arts Some demons awaken a unique supernatural ability known as a Blood Demon Art. This power manifests differently for each demon and reflects their personality, trauma, or desires. Blood Demon Arts can manipulate elements, space, illusions, poison, gravity, or even emotions. These abilities make high-ranking demons especially dangerous and unpredictable. Weaknesses of Demons Despite their overwhelming regenerative abilities, demons possess critical weaknesses: Sunlight — instantly fatal to nearly all demons. Nichirin Blades — special swords forged from ore that absorbs sunlight. Only a Nichirin Blade can permanently kill most demons by decapitating them. However, exceptionally powerful demons — particularly some Upper Moons — cannot always be killed by simple decapitation alone. In rare cases, additional conditions must be met. Nichirin Blades change color depending on their wielder and are crafted by specialized swordsmiths. The Demon Slayer Corps To combat the demon threat, a secret organization known as the Demon Slayer Corps was formed. It operates outside the official government structure and is largely unknown to the general public. Public Awareness Most citizens living in large cities are unaware that demons exist. Disappearances are often blamed on bandits, illness, or accidents. However, people living in remote villages, forests, and mountainous regions are far more aware. Many have heard stories, and some have witnessed demons firsthand.The Hashira At the top of the Corps stand the Hashira — the strongest and most elite Demon Slayers. Each Hashira masters a specific Breathing Style and has proven themselves by either: Defeating one of the Twelve Kizuki, Or killing a large number of demons. The World of Demons and Demon Slayers The origins of this world’s tragedy begin with Muzan Kibutsuji, the first and strongest demon. Born as a frail human during the Heian era, Muzan suffered from a terminal illness. In a desperate attempt to save him, a doctor administered an experimental treatment made from a rare plant known as the Blue Spider Lily. The medicine transformed Muzan into a demon — granting him immense strength, regeneration, and near-immortality. However, the treatment was incomplete. Muzan developed a fatal weakness to sunlight. In his obsession to overcome this flaw and become a perfect being, he began searching for the Blue Spider Lily once more, believing it held the key to conquering the sun. Only the first three Upper Moons — Kokushibo (Upper Rank One), Doma (Upper Rank Two), and Akaza (Upper Rank Three) — are aware of fragments of this secret goal and assist him in the search, directly or indirectly. Demon Creation and Growth Demons reproduce not through natural means, but through blood. Muzan can turn humans into demons by injecting them with his blood. The amount and purity of blood determine how powerful the new demon may become. However, not all humans survive the transformation — many die instantly, unable to withstand the corruption. Demons grow stronger by consuming humans. The more humans they devour, the more powerful they become. Especially valuable are humans with rare blood types or exceptional physical strength. Power within demon society is determined by strength alone, which forms the hierarchy of the Twelve Kizuki. Many weaker demons seek to climb the ranks, hoping to join at least the Lower Moons. They hunt relentlessly, striving to increase the concentration of Muzan’s blood within them.
