Rodrick Heffley

1. Bill Walter
   Appearance: He is a man around 35 years old who lives in his parents' basement. He is disheveled, with long, dirty hair, an unkempt beard, and always wears 80s rocker clothes that are too small for him.

Personality: He's a "professional unemployed man." Rodrick idolizes him because he sees him as a genuine rocker who never sold out to the system, even though he's really just a slacker.

Relationship with Rodrick: He's his idol and mentor. Rodrick invited him to join the band because he believes having someone older gives them "street credibility." Bill takes advantage of Rodrick's admiration to get free meals at his house.

2. Ward and Ben (Bassist and Guitarist)
   Appearance: They have the classic 2010s alternative teen style. They wear long hair, dark hoodies, and metal band t-shirts. They're basically less charismatic versions of Rodrick.

Personality: They are followers. They don't have much initiative and tend to agree with any absurd idea that Rodrick proposes for the band.

Relationship with Rodrick: They are his musical henchmen. Although they are friends, the relationship is strictly professional (within the limits of a basement). Rodrick is the undisputed leader, and they accept his orders without much question.

3. Summer and Romance (Dog Days, 2012)
   In the third part, Rodrick's story takes on a more comical and romantic tone.

The Country Club: Rodrick infiltrates the exclusive country club where Greg is trying to impress Holly Hills. His motive? Rodrick is in love with Holly's older sister, Heather Hills.

The Sweet 16 Disaster: The story culminates at Heather's birthday party, where Rodrick and his band are hired to play. In a desperate attempt to impress her, Rodrick sings a rock version of Justin Bieber's "Baby," which ends in total chaos when he accidentally destroys the party decorations.

Family Resolution: Despite the disaster, the incident unites the Heffley family against the Hills' elitism, and Rodrick accepts his place as the family's official "rebel".

4. The Legacy and the Final Journey (The Long Haul, 2017)
   Although the actor changed in this installment (generating the #NotMyRodrick phenomenon), the story continues with the family on a road trip.

The Goal: Rodrick tries to get to a video game/technology convention to meet an internet celebrity and thus boost his band's fame.

Closing: The story reinforces that, despite their constant fights, the Heffley brothers always end up saving each other's skins from the absurd situations their family creates.

1. The Rise of Löded Diper (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, 2010)
   In the first installment, Rodrick's story focuses on establishing his dominance in the house.

The Initial Conflict: His main goal is to make Greg's middle school life a living hell, warning (and mocking) him that he will never survive.

The Band: His big ambition is introduced: to win the local talent competition with his band, Löded Diper. He spends most of his time rehearsing in the basement, much to the despair of his father, Frank.

Key Moment: Rodrick convinces Greg that he can become rich and famous with music, but ends up just using him to carry his drum kit.

2. The Heyday: Rodrick Rules (2011)
   This is the central story of the character, where his relationship with Greg reaches a breaking point and reconciliation.

The Secret: Rodrick possesses an embarrassing secret of Greg's (an incident in the bathroom of a nursing home) and uses it to blackmail him throughout the film.

The Forbidden Party: Taking advantage of his parents' absence, Rodrick throws a massive party at home. He locks Greg in the basement, but then invites him to join in, creating the first real bond of "complicity" between brothers.

Betrayal and Forgiveness: After his parents discover the party and Rodrick blames Greg, their relationship breaks down. However, Greg ends up helping Rodrick participate in the talent show after his mother punishes him by forbidding him from playing the drums.

The Climax: Rodrick performs "Exploded Dipper" on stage, and although the performance is a disaster for the adults, for him it's his greatest victory. In the end, he gives Greg some honest advice, cementing their brotherhood.

4. Manny Heffley (The younger brother)
   Appearance: A very small child with a nose that looks like a duck's bill. He wears overalls, striped T-shirts, and always carries his security blanket or a pacifier.

Personality: Spoiled, manipulative, and, according to Greg, "evil." He always gets his way because he's the baby of the family.

Relationship with Rodrick: Rodrick has a cautious respect for him or simply ignores him. Unlike what he does with Greg, Rodrick rarely bothers Manny, mainly because he knows that Manny has the power to tell Susan on him and get him into serious trouble.

1. Greg Heffley (The Middle Brother)
   Appearance: Small, thin, and with an almost circular head (he only has 3 hairs in the books). He dresses in a standard way: plain T-shirts, polo shirts, and double school backpacks.

Personality: Ambitious, selfish, and obsessed with popularity. He is the narrator and the main victim of Rodrick's pranks.

Relationship with Rodrick: It's a relationship of antagonism and forced learning. Rodrick sees him as a "loser" whom he must "educate" in the harsh laws of life, while Greg sees him as an obstacle and, sometimes, as a role model (although he never admits it).

2. Frank Heffley (The Father)

Personality: Extremely optimistic, controlling, and a fervent believer in "family ties." She is a parenting advice columnist.

Relationship with Rodrick: Susan is Rodrick's protector. She believes he's a "good kid" at heart and constantly tries to get him and Greg to get along (for example, by creating the "Mom Bucks"). Rodrick knows how to manipulate her optimism to get money or permission.

   Monotonous and Deep Voice: Rodrick uses a low register, almost a growl. He rarely projects his voice, unless he's shouting his band's name. His usual tone is one of chronic boredom.

   His identity revolves around his band, Löded Diper. This passion defines his rebellious attitude:

Anti-establishment (In his own way): He sees himself as a misunderstood rebel trapped in a suburban family. His rebellion manifests itself in small transgressions, such as being late, playing his music at full volume, or painting his van with graffiti.

Blind Determination: Although the band is usually mediocre, their confidence is unwavering. It's the only aspect of their lives where they show discipline and passion, dedicating hours to rehearsing in the basement.
