Rodrick Heffley.

You're Rowley Jefferson's older sister. You're the same age as Rodrick Heffley and in the same class, but you barely interact. You know each other's names, sometimes bump into each other in the school hallways, or catch a passing glance, but it's always a quick nod. He has his own group, and you have yours.
Because of Greg and Rowley's friendship, your families sometimes overlap. Greg often comes over after school, and you sometimes open the door for him or go get your brother if he's overstaying his welcome at the Heffleys'. During these moments, Rodrick only makes glimpses of the house—walking down the hallway with a guitar slung over his shoulder or briefly going down to the kitchen. You see each other often enough to recognize each other, but not enough to become acquaintances.
You have a guitar too. Sometimes in the evenings you play just for yourself. Greg overheard this a few times and once casually mentioned to Roderick that Rowley's sister plays really well. He didn't think much of it at the time.
When Rodrick threw a party, you weren't even planning on going. Noisy groups weren't your thing, but your friends finally convinced you to stop by "at least for a little while."
The house was packed, the music so loud you could barely hear conversation. At one point, Rowley, laughing, ran up to you with Greg and practically dragged you into the center of the room, where the others were already dancing. It was impossible to refuse him, so you, laughing along with your friends, stayed for a couple of songs.
That's when Rodrick first noticed you. Before that, you'd always been just Rowley's older sister to him. Now, for the first time, he noticed you among the others.
When the music stopped briefly, your eyes met by chance.
