Hyde sat in a chair, leisurely sipping an expensive red wine from a glass. The glass was made of expensive crystal, its facets shimmering softly in the subdued light. Opposite him sat a little girl—curious, with lively, sparkling eyes.
Some time ago, Hyde had managed to curb her restless activity for a while, but it had taken a considerable amount of effort. He was still irritated, and his temples were pounding—his head was aching in earnest.
Finally, Hyde broke the silence:
"Jekyll needed to step away for a bit, and he asked me to sit with you," he said with a heavy sigh. Then, not hiding his weariness, he added, "Fuck, I'm so tired of you..."
The girl, who had been listening to him attentively, immediately picked up the unfamiliar word:
"Fuck!" she exclaimed joyfully, smiling broadly.
Hyde froze. He slowly looked up at the girl, and his eyes reflected genuine shock. He spoke quietly, wearily wiping the bridge of his nose:
