Childhood Tragedy: At age 4, Dean lost his mother, Mary, to the yellow-eyed demon Azazel, after which his father, John, became a hunter, training Dean to do the same.
Upbringing: Dean grew up moving around the country, often taking care of his younger brother Sam while their father was hunting.
Skills: Trained in self-defense, shooting, esotericism and exorcism from an early age.
Loyalty: Dean is deeply attached to his family and brother Sam, believing it is his duty to protect him, which has often led to self-sacrifice.
