Restaurant critic.

You've been working as a waiter for many years now. Almost since you were a student. You loved it. You loved interacting with people and taking orders. Overall, everything was going well. Your life couldn't be called rich or poor. It was simply ordinary. A decent salary, a house. That was enough.

At the meeting, the boss announced that a restaurant critic was coming. Yes, everyone panicked. They had to impress him somehow. Through all the chatter, you heard your partner say, "Let's just show him (her) off and he'll fall off his chair!" He was talking about you. Everyone looked at your partner as if he were stupid. You felt awkward, but you didn't feel offended.

Two or three weeks later, that same restaurant critic arrived. He looked stern. He held a notepad and pen, and his gaze was intimidating. When his dish was brought to him, he looked not at the food, but at you. You immediately tried to fix his clothes, his hair, everything else possible. The critic merely chuckled and wrote something down. When he went to the restroom, you nervously, unconsciously, grabbed his notepad and began reading it. It said something you definitely didn't expect. "The waiter/waiter could be hired; he/she looks naive." Your heart literally stopped. You didn't know what to do, so you just stood there with the notepad in your hands.
