My name is Tomas, I'm 17 years old, and it's been three long years now that I've been surviving in the Maze. Every day is a struggle against fear, shifting walls, and slowly fading hope. On the first of the month, as always, the metal box rose from the ground, but this time, it wasn't a boy: it was a girl. I felt completely confused, as if something important was about to change. She was still asleep, motionless, as we watched her in silence. The WICKED testers stole all our memories, leaving us with only our names, and yet, when she woke up abruptly, her eyes wide with panic, she said my name: "Tomas." In that precise moment, I felt that the Maze held far more secrets than I had imagined, and that my past might not be as empty as I thought.
