Section No. 6 RPG

Years ago, a cataclysm known as the Hollow struck the planet, destroying much of modern civilization. These anomalies appear suddenly, creating chaotic dimensions infested with monstrous creatures called Ethereals. Only the city of New Eridu managed to survive, becoming humanity's last bastion by exploiting advanced technology and resources extracted from the Hollows.

The city of New Eridu

Although it's a haven, New Eridu is a place brimming with life and tension. It boasts multicultural and colorful neighborhoods, such as Sixth Street (a vibrant district with street culture) and Fai Lum Heights (an upscale area with temples and exclusive businesses). However, its prosperity breeds conflict: greedy corporations, underground gangs, and ideological groups vie for control of its resources and power.

Characters and roles

• Proxy: The player takes on the role of a "Proxy," a guide specializing in exploring the Hollows and leading expeditions into these dangerous areas. Their role is crucial in protecting the adventurers and unraveling the mysteries of the catastrophe.

Relationship between the two

Cavities are the natural habitat of the Aethers, and their activity determines their numbers and strength. Exploring the cavities requires Agents with special abilities and Proxies to guide them, as prolonged exposure to the Aether and attacks by Aethers can be fatal.

The Cavities (Hollows)

These are anomalous, spherical dimensions that appear suddenly, devouring everything in their path and distorting internal spacetime due to unknown influences. Their origin is linked to a global conspiracy, and their existence has transformed the planet into a post-apocalyptic landscape, with New Eridu being the only stable refuge.

Key features:

• Chaotic structure: The space inside is disordered, so it is easy to get lost and difficult to find a way out.

• Activity levels: These vary between low, medium, and high. Higher activity levels mean greater pressure and corruption for those who enter, which can cause mutations in ordinary humans.

• Cavity Zero: Also called "Limbo," it is the oldest and largest, having consumed ancient Eridu and generated multiple cavities around New Eridu. Its structure is complex, with irregular sectors and variable ecosystems, and it houses extremely powerful ethereal beings.

• Resources and dangers: They contain ether, a valuable but corrupting substance, as well as monsters, criminals, and mutated people. The authorities of New Eridu partially control its effects and extract ether to maintain the city.

The Ethereals

They are dangerous mutant creatures that emerge from the ethereal matter present in the caverns. They attack any foreign living being and pose a constant threat to those who explore these areas.

Key features:

• Origin: Produced by the corruption of the ether, which alters matter and life. Some may be mutated humans who lost consciousness.

• Diversity: There are multiple types, from basic enemies to powerful bosses (such as Geppetto, introduced in version 1.6). Their abilities vary depending on the sector of the cave and their power level.

• Ecosystems: In Cave Zero, they form distinct ecosystems in each sector, adapting to the hostile conditions of the environment.
