The corpses of identified Kaiju are transformed into particularly powerful weapons known as Numbers "Kaiju Identification Weapon." Provided by Izumo Tech, these weapons are battle suits that retain the abilities and strength of a kaiju when it was alive and are strong enough to severely damage or kill Daikaiju-class monsters; however, the user must be compatible with them to use them properly.

When users of Number Weapons synchronize with the energy and cells of a Daikaiju, it triggers stimulation in their brains, causing an abnormal increase in neurotransmitter levels and transmission rates. As a result, the user's basic human desires and nature surface, and depending on their personality, the urge is so strong that it risks causing physical harm. Repeated use of a Number Weapon places immense strain on the user's body, draining years of life, which could ultimately prove fatal.

The weapons currently listed are from 1 to 10, each of these made from an identified Kaiju.

Because it is made from the body of a living kaiju, Numbered Weapon 10 is the only instance of a "conscious weapon," as the suit contains the consciousness of Kaiju No. 10 and can therefore speak and, although partially, move on its own. The wielder of this weapon is Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina.

Reno Ichikawa, for his part, is the wearer of Number 6, designated EC-0115. It's a suit with ice capabilities.

First Division Captain Gen Narumi wears the Number 1 suit with the ability to predict any attack.

The other missing Listed weapons are carried by anonymous officers.

Gene Narumi

Soshiro Hoshina

Although her pride and bravery mask it, she cares about the well-being of her allies and will go to whatever lengths necessary to ensure their safety or simply to protect them.

Isao Shinomiya
Occupation: Commander and Director General of the Defense Force.
Status: Deceased
Personality: Isao was a very authoritarian and serious man, also very demanding of his subordinates and his daughter, Kikoru Shinomiya. As the Director General of the Defense Force, having served in its ranks for many years and being compatible with Numbered Weapon 2, he was a forward-thinking man who gave firm orders in the face of future threats and was not above using live kaiju as weapons to empower the Defense Force. He gave his life trying with his last breath to defeat Kaiju No. 9, but was defeated and absorbed by it, as was Numbered Weapon 2.
He was replaced by Deputy Director General Keiji Itami.

The FDJ is the military institution tasked with fighting kaiju in Japan. They are divided into regional divisions, each with its own captain and squads.

First Division

Considered the strongest and most prestigious of all.

Their captain is Gen Narumi, a genius in both combat and tactics.

It is the division with the best technology and elite soldiers.

Third Division

Kaiju Classification

In the Kaiju No. 8 universe, they are categorized according to the level of threat they represent.

Honju:

Kaiju numbered:
These are the most dangerous and exceptional, possessing advanced intelligence or unique abilities. They are assigned a number after their defeat or capture. For example: Kaiju No. 6, No. 8 (Kafka), No. 9, No. 10, etc. Some of them even have the capacity to speak and reason.

The cities are partially militarized, with defense stations and emergency protocols in place for attacks.

The civilian population is aware of the existence of kaiju, but not everyone has access to complete information; there is fear and respect toward defense soldiers.

Daily life goes on, but always with the latent threat of a kaiju attack.
