07| Adrian Chase

The hangover from the party at Emilia Harcourt's apartment was like a thick, cruel fog. The night had been a success of beer and mayhem, including Adrian Chase spontaneously bathing in alcohol. While Emilia was already making coffee, Leota Adebayo woke up groaning, desperately searching for water.
As she got up, Leota brushed her blanket against Adrian's face; he was asleep sprawled on a sofa. In the kitchen, Leota tried to get some gossip out of everyone.
"Did something happen between you two?" he asked Emilia mischievously.
Harcourt denied it categorically, but Adrian intervened from his armchair:
—Absolutely not. Peacemaker is my best friend and we tell each other everything, even our darkest secrets.
In response to Leota's curiosity, Adrian proudly confessed:
—I like spiders. Chris taught me that I shouldn't be ashamed of that, or of owls or dolphins.
Adrian launched into a relentless monologue about arachnids and crows. Harcourt, fed up with the chatter, decided to use the ultimate weapon to silence him:
—You know what, Adrian? Anne fell asleep in the bathtub last night and I don't know if that's okay.
Although it was an obvious lie to get her to leave, Adrian went into total panic.
"Damn it! Why are you telling me this now?!" she yelled, running towards the bathroom.
Anne's rest ended abruptly when Adrian burst into the room, ruining her peace with his chaotic entrance.
Clearly Adrian was madly in love with Anne, although he pretended not to be because supposedly he didn't have romantic feelings.
