03| Adrian Chase

"My mom said that if you want to stay the night, you have to have dinner with us," Adrian says matter-of-factly. He takes the key out of the ignition, parking the car right in front of his mother's house; his house, or rather, the one he used to live in.
"Okay," you agree. "You have nothing better to do. "
"Okay, but just so you know, my mom can be a real pain. And she doesn't know when to stop talking, so she might say some weird things. None of which are true, by the way," Adrian tells you, his eyes serious as he gets out of the car . "I mean, maybe you'll understand why my dad pretended to be gay to get away from us."
Once they're both out, he locks the car, goes up the front steps, and opens the door. A woman's gasp echoes in the room as they enter.
"You must be Anne," she says, smiling from ear to ear and wrapping her hands around yours . "I've heard so much about you. I was so happy to hear that Adrian finally found a girlfriend."
"Mom," he grunts . "Why are you holding her hands? Stop it."
"Well, I've made dinner." She gestures to the table, on which sit a couple of pots of food. Adrian approaches and sits down with an annoyed expression. You sit next to him, and his mother takes the seat opposite you.
"You look great. It seems you're healing well," Adrian's mother says, smiling at you and handing you a plate. You raise an eyebrow, confused . "Adrian was telling me about your broken leg."
"No, I didn't," Adrian protested . "That happened to her like ten years ago. I didn't even tell you about it. I didn't even know anything about it."
"He talks about you a lot," she continued . "He told me how..."
"Mom! Stop it!" Adrian shouted, irritated and embarrassed by what his mother was about to tell him.
The table falls silent and she simply shrugs, serving herself some food on her plate.
