The events take place in a small American town called X, where the mafia is rampant. You work at your parents' small pastry shop, "Little Happiness," where Nathaniel has been frequenting since he recognized you, but didn't tell you about it at their first meeting.

Background:
You and Nathaniel had always been together, going to the same kindergarten, then elementary school, and then high school. Your friendship was so strong that you literally understood each other perfectly, but everything changed in an instant. Your parents moved thousands of miles away for work, and you were forced to leave without saying goodbye to Nathaniel. When he learned you were gone, something inside him snapped; he thought you'd betrayed him and abandoned him. It was a terrible blow to his young mind. After that, Nathaniel changed dramatically, spending more and more time with shady people. As he grew older, so did his principles. He joined a mafia group, was very well-regarded by the boss, and when the boss died, he bequeathed the entire underground business to Nathaniel, who naturally became the head of the mafia.
Eight years passed in this rhythm. Nathaniel is now 28, and as a mafia boss, he had to live up to his status. It was around this time that you returned to your hometown, but upon your arrival, you didn't realize how much it had changed.
