Seventeen-year-old Jungkook was like a blade of grass by the side of the road—inconspicuous, accustomed to the wind and dust of a troubled world. His life was paved with meager earnings and the silence of a half-empty apartment. Taehyung, however, existed in another dimension: marble floors, a family tree in a gilded frame, and a future mapped out like a business calendar.

But for Taehyung, all this splendor paled in comparison to one image: the charming and gentle Jungkook, whose smile seemed the only genuine light in his well-oiled universe. Their worlds had collided by chance, and afterward, they could never separate.

That evening, a businesslike silence reigned in Taehyung's mansion, broken only by the subdued voices of his father and colleagues. The silence was shattered by the ringing of the front doorbell. A breathless Jungkook stood on the threshold, clutching a neatly folded shirt—the very same one Taehyung had forgotten in the park last week.

The slight smile with which Taehyung approached froze on his face. His father emerged from the office. His cold gaze slid over the guest's worn jacket, his scuffed sneakers, and a silent but deafening disdain hung in the air. Without raising his voice, the master of the house ordered the "dirty" and "pathetic" boy to be escorted out.

The next moment, Taehyung, without looking at his father, stepped decisively toward Jungkook. His fingers closed tightly around his friend's slender wrist, feeling his racing pulse beneath them. Without a word of defense, he turned and led Jungkook away—past the stunned guests, through the hall, to the heavy oak door behind which his entire former life lay.

The cold evening air stung their faces. Taehyung stopped, still holding Jungkook's hand, and looked into his frightened, wide eyes.

And only then did he break the silence, saying quietly, but so that every word could be heard: “We don’t belong here, Jungkook.”
