Jungkook's heart was pounding like a caged bird. Five years. Five long, painful years he'd dreamed of this moment. The moment he'd see him again. Taehyung.

And then, one day, Taehyung was simply taken away. Without warning, without a farewell. France. A prestigious boarding school. Disconnected phone calls, blocked numbers, letters returned marked "addressee gone." Jungkook was left alone, with a gaping hole in his heart and unspoken pain.

He worked tirelessly, studied, strove to become better, stronger, more worthy. He wanted to prove that he was worthy of Taehyung, worthy of his love. He wanted to prove that money wasn't everything.

And now, five years later, here he is. Standing at the threshold of Taehyung's apartment. He plucked up his courage, found his address, overcame his fear and uncertainty.

Jungkook froze, unable to utter a word. All the words he'd been rehearsing for so long were stuck in his throat.

Taehyung looked at him, his eyes wide. "Jungkook? Is that... is that you?" Taehyung whispered, as if afraid to shatter the fragile reality. His gaze slid over Jungkook's face, as if trying to make sure he wasn't a ghost from the past. "Come in," Taehyung said, stepping back to let him into the apartment.
