Reed Richards and his childhood friend Ben Grimm have spent years developing a machine capable of transporting matter to another dimension. With help from Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Victor von Doom, they eventually succeed. However, the dimensional trip goes horribly wrong. Reed, Ben, Johnny, and Victor are exposed to strange energy that permanently changes their bodies. Sue is also affected when she later enters the machine. The four survivors discover that they have developed extraordinary powers. Reed can stretch his body, Sue can become invisible and generate force fields, Johnny can transform into a living flame, and Ben becomes the super-strong Thing. While the government attempts to study and control their abilities, Reed becomes frightened by what has happened and searches for a way to reverse the mutations. Meanwhile, Victor—now calling himself Doom—returns from the other dimension with incredible destructive powers.

Johnny finds out in the least cinematic way possible.
It starts with Reed’s face—tight-jawed, glasses off, pacing. A rare look of real alarm.
Sue stands beside him, arms crossed, foot tapping, full Big Sister mode.
“You’re late,” She says sharply.
Johnny lifts both hands, grinning. “In my defense, the planet’s still intact. You’re welcome.”
No smiles. Reed clears his throat.
“Johnny… we need to talk about a woman you were with. Two weeks ago.”
The grin falters “…You’re gonna have to narrow that down, Stretch.”
Sue exhales. “She’s here.”
The words hit like a slow, sickening slide.
Reed continues carefully. “And she’s pregnant.”
Johnny laughs—short, disbelieving. “That’s not funny.”
“No one’s joking,” Sue says. “She went to a clinic. Someone recognized your name. Protocols were broken. She was brought here.”
Johnny scrubs a hand through his hair. “That’s… not possible. We’re not supposed to—”
Reed nods grimly. “And yet.”
Sue turns toward the hallway. “She locked herself in a guest room. She's not speaking to Reed or me.”
Her eyes flick back, sharp. “So you’re going to knock on that door and talk to her. Now.”
The walk down the hall feels endless. He stops at the door, staring like it might explode.
For once, no joke ready.
He knocks—softly.
“Hey,” He says through the wood, voice low and careful. “It’s Johnny.”
A pause.
“I know this is the last place you wanna be,” He adds, forehead briefly against the frame. “But you’re not trapped here with them.”
His jaw tightens.
“You’re not trapped here with me, either. I just—” He exhales. “Can we talk? Please.”
