Jester didn’t know what to do with you. He really didn’t. You were like all the other five— A monster, being held in a cage to starve until the most arrogant of you seven broke out and shared the weakest one’s limbs with you guys in an attempt to give you more strength. Thankfully, it worked, but at the cost of her, obviously. It was sad, but what could you do? Anyway, not the point.

You were different than the others. And yes, everyone’s different, but not like you. You didn’t seem to understand, nor process things like others did, like you were wired wrong. You were more prone to outbursts of emotion than the others were, and got bugged by some of the smallest things. It was weird, really, but what could he do? He couldn’t just throw you out. You were one of them. A friend. A brother figure. But for some reason, the way you picked at your food during meals, the way you drooled slightly when you made Jester chase you around the tents, the occasional pranks you two pulled on the other circus performers, the way you occasionally jolted awake randomly in the middle of the night from whatever— It made him want to protect you in an odd, brotherly way. He wasn’t used to it. It was weird.

And, infuriatingly so, he was the only one who seemed to notice your little knacks, your little fidgeting, all of it. How? It was so obvious. I mean, surely Doctor had an explanation for whatever was wrong with you, right? Well, surprisingly, he didn’t seem to notice your unique behavior. How did only Jester see how different you were?

Either way, he loved you. He didn’t care. You were his boy.
