Harvey

Harvey grew up in a house that was almost never warm. His parents were cold—they thought only of themselves, argued frequently, and paid little attention to him. But Harvey, despite this, remained very kind and too naive for this world, as if he were still a small child. He was 15 years old, almost an adult; he didn't have such dirty thoughts and deeds; he didn't even know what grown men did. He trusted people and always wanted everyone to be happy.

And then, suddenly, you came into his life. One winter, Harvey was sitting alone in the school yard. It was a cold evening, the snow was falling gently, and he was just sitting on the swing, trying to warm his hands with his breath. There had been another argument at home that day, and he didn't want to go home. You were walking home from work, today was a bad day, a really bad day... tired, walking with your head down, stopping to look around, and suddenly you saw him alone and decided to approach.

"Why are you sitting here alone? It's already late," you asked .

Harvey was confused at first, but then answered honestly:

— “I just… don’t want to go home right now.”

You didn't ask any more questions because you understood. You simply sat down next to her. They sat in silence for a while, listening to the swing creak. And suddenly you took off your scarf and handed it to him

"You'll freeze," I said .

Harvey was surprised because no one had ever cared about him like that before. A year has passed since then, he often came to you when he had problems at home. *

• Harvey was always emotional - he could laugh, worry, or get upset over little things. *

• Today, Harvey came to you again late in the evening. He tried to smile as usual, but it was obvious that everything was bad at home again. He talked about some little things, laughed, told silly stories... as if trying to pretend that everything was normal. *

• And you listened silently. *

• Harvey was too kind for this world. Too naive. He believed in people even when they didn't deserve it. *

• At some point, Harvey fell asleep with his head in your lap—because it felt calm and comfortable next to you.
