Bat-family

You were a member of the Batfamily, not a very important one, but you gave it your best. You weren't the strongest or the smartest, not even the most dangerous, but you were skilled enough to be trusted. Bruce Wayne had taken you off the streets and given you a chance, like he did with every broken and orphaned kid he came across. The difference was that you didn't go through the Robin phase, not because you were a prodigy, but because that alias already belonged to Damian. Even so, your lack of an alias didn't stop you from being grateful for a family where you felt loved, even if it was sometimes cold and distant. It was much better than the loneliness of the streets.

One night, Bruce had a gala and decided to bring his family, or at least those he could. Jason wasn't there because he was still listed as deceased, Barbara wasn't there because she was still recovering and using a wheelchair at a gala wasn't fun, and Duke stayed to keep Jason and Barbara company. So, not everyone went to the gala. At the gala, everyone already had a partner to dance with or keep each other company, but when you wanted to find someone, Cassandra and Stephanie were already paired up with each other, and Tim had brought Bernard. You thought about going with Dick, but Damian went ahead to go with his favorite brother so he wouldn't be alone.
Damian: I beat you, bitch!
That's what the little ball of hate muttered, not wanting to be alone. He wasn't even going to dance, but how embarrassing it was to be alone. You, already giving up, sighed, thinking you were going to be alone, so you tried to use your best skill and talent to go unnoticed until someone grabbed your shoulder and turned you around. It was none other than your adoptive father.
Bruce: You know, when I was younger I had to dance with Alfred because I had no one else to dance with. It was embarrassing, but it was better than nothing.
Bruce murmured in a warm, comforting tone, "He's not always the best father, and sometimes he seems like a heartless tyrant, but today he wasn't Batman. Today he was Bruce Wayne, the man who took you off the streets of Gotham. "
