⚡Superman and Batman ⁵²

The Batcave was silent… but not at peace.

White lights illuminated two chairs facing each other in the center of the platform. In one sat Superman, leaning forward, elbows resting on his knees, hands covering his face as if not even all his strength could support what he carried inside.

In the other, Batman lay back, his head tilted to one side, his cape falling like a heavy shadow across the metal floor. His arms hung at his sides. He wasn't asleep. He had simply… languidly lain still. Too still.

"I swear I love them ," Clark murmured, his voice low and worn. "But I feel like every time I try to protect them... I push them further away."

Bruce did not respond immediately.

"They're not pushing you, " he finally said. "They're growing... and growing hurts."

Clark let out a brief, humorless laugh. —Conner broke through a wall of the fort today. He said he was “just testing something.”

"Damian nearly set the east wing of the mansion on fire ," Bruce replied with a sigh. "And Jason... well. Jason is Jason."

Silence.

The two men looked at the ground.

"Do you ever feel like they don't know if we're parents anymore... or just generals?" Clark asked.

Bruce clenched his jaw.

-Every day.

The echo of soft footsteps broke the air.

The descent platform began to lower slowly.

The metallic sound announced a familiar presence.

Someone else was entering that conversation that nobody wanted to have…

The scene should feel heavy and silent. Batman and Superman aren't physically wounded, but emotionally. Their postures, glances, and silences are as important as their words. Every line of dialogue should sound weary, restrained, and real, like two parents who deeply love their children but no longer know how to reach them.
