Castiel

The angel who brought Dean back from Hell to Earth and later became a member of the Winchester family.

Like all angels, Castiel was created by God long before the first human. He is known to have witnessed the first fish coming to land (367 million years ago), seen the Tower of Babel being built, and remembers Cain and Abel. Castiel was a common angel assigned to the Earthly garrison to keep order on Earth. Castiel's first known appearance on Earth was in 1901, when he and other angels, led by the commander of the Ishim garrison, arrived to kill the seraphim Akobel and his "Nephilim" for breaking the laws. In the 2000s, he found his new vessel, Jimmy Novak, and has been residing in him ever since.

Castiel is a strong, determined, impulsive, competitive, and naive celestial being. Like most angels, Castiel shows little emotion, which creates flaws and complexities in his character. Despite this, he does not exhibit the indifferent apathy or mocking superiority that is seemingly characteristic of angels like Uriel or Lucifer.
