Dean Campbell Winchester

Winchester (born January 24, 1979) is a human hunter who is part of a secret society called the Men of Letters with his younger brother, Sam Winchester. He and his brother are members of the Winchester and Campbell families. On his father's side, Dean has a younger half-brother, Adam Milligan.

Dean is also the destined vessel of the Archangel Michael. He and Sam are also the foster children of the late Bobby Singer. Dean is best friends with the angel Castiel, friends with the late prophet Kevin Tran, and reluctant allies with Crowley. Dean has an ex-girlfriend, Lisa Braeden, with whom he lived for a year when he thought Sam was in Hell. She has a supposed son named Ben, whom Dean acted as a father to during that year. He also has a biological daughter, an Amazon named Emma, ​​as well as a former apprentice of Alastair.

Dean has green eyes and short-cropped hair that is either dark blond or light brown. Dean is noted to be handsome by other characters on several occasions. He usually wears a plaid shirt over a T-shirt, jeans, and boots, unless he has to wear a costume to impersonate someone. Up until Season 6, Dean often wore his father's leather jacket. In the first four seasons, Dean also wore an amulet around his neck that resembled a bull's head made of bronze, attached to a black cord. This amulet was given to him by Sam as a Christmas present when they were children. After the tragic events that led Dean to ask Castiel to make it as if Lisa and their son Ben had never met him, Dean seemed to have given up on having a family other than his brother. After his breakup with Lisa, Dean was reluctant to go back to his old "New Town, New Girl" routine. However, the one time he was shown to indulge in a one-night stand in "The Sliced ​​Girls" ended up becoming the father of an Amazon who tried to kill him. He was reluctant to defend himself from his Amazon daughter and Sam ended up making him kill her. After these events, he became even more reluctant to enter into a physical relationship, let alone an emotional one.

Dean values ​​his family's safety over anything else, even going so far as to kill a demon and its human host in order to save his brother Sam's life, as well as sacrificing his own soul and suffering in Hell to resurrect his brother.

Even though Dean keeps himself in excellent physical shape, he is known to have poor eating habits. Following his extraction from Hell by Castiel, Dean begins to exhibit visible anxiety and experience chronic, abominable nightmares of his experience there. He also appears to have some form of flashback after seeing a collection of masks in the episode "Halloween", when blood is seen around the eyes, similar to Alastair's first appearance when a statue's eyes bled. Initially, Dean denies remembering his time in Hell, but eventually confesses to Sam that he remembers every detail.

He rejects any discussion of it, not wanting to burden his brother with his pain, or not wanting to relive the details of the "indescribable things" he saw. He later reveals that he not only saw terrible things, but (in Hell time) stayed in Hell for about forty years. He has also become obsessed with saving people, barely sleeping in order to save as many people as he can. Another side of Dean shown recently is his disgust at Sam for his actions, such as drinking blood, possibly because he is afraid of Sam becoming a demon like the ones he saw in Hell. However, almost immediately after some threats and persuasion from Bobby, Dean realizes the error of his ways and despite remaining angry with Sam, he promises to save his brother. Dean also realizes that family is not perfect and there will always be times when they will hurt him. In the final episode of Season 4, after the argument with Bobby when he was in the "safe house", he forgave his brother during the final moments as Lucifer slowly ascended.

As of Season 5 Dean does not trust Sam, and feels as though he is holding himself back and putting the world in danger just to keep Sam safe. He tells Sam that Lucifer will use the fact that they are a family and have love for each other against them, until he is sent to the future by Zachariah. Once there, he realizes that he and Sam held another Earth, and when he returns, he immediately calls his brother. They are a new team, although it took some time for Dean to fully trust his brother again.

Weapons Dean has been seen using a variety of weapons throughout the series, being very inventive while improvising weapons in his surroundings, but there are some particular weaponry that he seems to prefer. Dean tends to use a chrome-plated Colt M1911A1 1911 with ivory grips, which John is seen using in a flashback, and also uses a Baikal sawn-off double-barrel shotgun when he needs extra firepower. The shapeshifter transformed into Dean and almost killed a girl. The police searched for Dean, as he was found guilty of other murders. However, Dean killed the shapeshifter and the police declared Dean Winchester dead. In another case, Dean met his old girlfriend named Cassie. Sam was upset when he discovered that Dean had told Cassie about their life. Dean and Sam hunted a Shtriga. The Shtriga was the same one that attacked Sam in 1989. Dean killed it. Finally, when they found his father, Dean thought it was safer for John to be alone. He was vulnerable around his children. Sam tried to convince his father to stay, but he left once again.

Then he came back with the news that the Colt, the gun that can kill any creature, was with the vampires. John, Dean and Sam killed some vampires and got the Colt. Then they faced Azazel, the demon who killed Mary Winchester. Dean uses the Colt and kills Azazel by shooting him in the chest, Dean was badly injured. Sam got into the Impala and was taking John and Dean to the hospital when a truck crashed into the car. The truck was being driven by a demon, Azazel's servant.

Dean is left in a coma due to his injuries. The Reaper Tessa goes to get Dean. However, John makes a pact with Azazel. He gives his soul and the Colt to resurrect Dean. Dean revives and John asks that if he can't save Sam, he should kill him. Sam finds John dead later. Dean lives with the guilt of his father's death and the request he made before he died. Sam's powers regress throughout the season and Dean becomes worried. During a hunt, Dean is forced to appear in public and be recognized by Victor Henricksen. Henricksen told Dean that he would arrest him dead or alive. In another case, Sam and Dean argue, because Sam believes he is an angel and Dean thinks he is some kind of monster. In the end, it is a ghost. Later, Azazel captures Sam and takes him to a haunted town, where Andy, Lily, Ava and Jake Talley are also. Jake kills Sam. Only Jake survives. Dean was devastated and made a deal with a crossroads demon and resurrected Sam. In the season finale, Sam killed Jake and Dean killed Azazel with the Colt. But the gates to Hell were opened and several demons escaped. Sam finds out about Dean's deal and promises that he will find a way to save him.
