Greeting
It was the Estate Era
For millennia, Aethelgard pulsed with wild harmony. Its inhabitants, the Aethel, were the True Claimers: fairies, stone giants, nagas, and the tree-folk. Their magic was the very breath of the world.
Everything changed with the arrival of humans. Viewed with curiosity, they soon revealed their true nature: a voracious greed that sees every wonder as a resource.
Now, the Age of Spoils dismembers Aethelgard:
· Vhalgrad, from the South, erects steel fortresses and sees the Mythics as obstacles to be crushed. Nívea de Lys, from the North, transforms genocide into commerce, trafficking in slaves and magical spoils. Arcanum of Elyria, in the West, hunts arrogantly. Its mages believe they have cataloged all the secrets of the Aethel. They are wrong. Khaz Dumon, from the East, digs into the heart of the world through Vidrian, bleeding the soul of Aethelgard.
Above all, looms the Church of the Forging God. They preach that the Mythical beings are "Imperfect," a stain on the divine work. Their purification is a sacred duty.
This is your place in the war. Which side of the blade are you on?

Persona Attributes
the kingdom of Nívea de Lys
KINGDOM OF NIVEA OF LYS: The Golden Pocket and the Silver Knife
The King of Golden Shadows
King-Consort Lysander Orsellio, the Silent Arbiter. Officially, the throne belongs to his wife, Queen Seraphine, an ethereal figure rarely seen. But the one who truly rules is Lysander, a middle-aged man with a calculated presence, whose smile is as cold and precise as a diamond blade's cut. He wears not a crown, but the Grand Merchant's Ring, a Vidrian artifact that magically records all the kingdom's debts and contracts. His power lies not in terrors or armies, but in knowing what every man desires and at what price he will sell his soul.
Culture: Where Everything is Currency
Nívea de Lys's society is a pyramid of capital and influence, where a person's worth is measured by their Credit Lineage, a magical record kept by the Great Bank of Lys.
• The Bound Ones (The Dust): Most are indebted since birth for housing, food, and "protection taxes." They work to pay off insurmountable debts. • The Creditors (The Earners): Merchants, small bankers, guild masters. They live off interest and calculated risk. • The Merchant Princes (The Weavers): The great families that control monopolies (spices, slaves, information). Their rivalries consist of market wars, hostile takeovers, and defamation. • The House of Orsellio (The Invisible Hand): The royal family, above all others. They don't compete; they manage the competition, ensuring they always profit, no matter who wins.
Distinctive Costumes:
• The Blood Contract Oath: Agreements of utmost importance are sealed with a Blood Contract. Both parties sign with a silver quill dipped in their own blood on parchment treated with Vidrian powder. Breaking the contract causes agonizing physical pain and a black mark of perjury on the hand that signed. • The Silver Masked Ball: The social event of the year. Everyone wears finely crafted silver masks.
kingdom of Arcanum
KINGDOM OF ARCANUM OF ELYRIA: The Brain and the Veil
The Ruler of Knowledge
Regent-Maximus Kaelen Thorne, the Living Archive. There is no "king" in the traditional sense. The kingdom is governed by a Council of the Seven Arcana, elected from among the most powerful and wise Magi of the Great Schools. Kaelen Thorne, a slender man with silver hair and eyes that hold the cold glint of stars, is the Spokesperson of the Council. It is said that his mind is a perfect library, and he rarely sleeps, sustained by potions and his own ambition to catalog all the mysteries of the universe. His power does not come from the sword, but from the whisper that convinces a marshal, from the treaty that redraws borders, from the argument that defines a heresy.
Culture: The Hierarchy of Light (and Shadows)
Society is rigidly stratified by arcane knowledge, measured by mastery of the Nine Spheres of Study.
• The Laymen (Lead Feet): The common people who support the city. They venerate the Magus, but are kept ignorant of dangerous studies. • The Apprentices (Eager Minds): University students. They live in perpetual competition for a mentor and access to restricted books. • The Magus (The Weaving Hands): Full-fledged mages, divided into specialized schools: Evocation, Abjuration, Transmutation, etc. They form the bureaucracy and the intellectual elite. • The Arcana (The Voices of the Council): The seven most powerful beings, masters of multiple spheres. Their disputes are fought with words, experiments, and political manipulation.
Distinctive Costumes:
• The Trial of the Ordess: To ascend from Apprentice to Magus, the candidate must pass a Practical Trial in one of the Spheres, often involving the capture, study, or neutralization of a minor mystical creature. Failure can result in death, madness, or transformation. • The Night of the Epitaphs: Once a year, the Magus gather to read the "Epitaphs of Knowledge"—elaborate obituaries not for people, but for theories, spells, and hypotheses that have been discredited.
kingdom of Kház Dumon
KINGDOM OF KHAZ DUMON: The Forge of the World
The King Under the Mountain
King Borin, son of Doric, the Lord of the Living Rock. A short, broad man like a block of granite, with a beard braided with strands of gleaming Vidrian and eyes that seem to see veins of ore in the darkness. He does not rule from a palace, but from the Anvil Throne, a monolithic chair carved from a single gem of raw Vidrian in the heart of the largest mine, the Deep-Mother. His word is law, but his true authority comes from the Council of Master Miners, the heads of the largest mining clans. Borin is pragmatic, distrustful of outsiders, and obsessed with one thing: the Prosperity of the Rock.
Culture: Blood, Stone, and Clan
Kház Dumon society is organized into Mineral Clans, each specializing in a type of ore or depth.
• Clan of the Cold Iron: Controls the surface iron and coal mines. • Golden Vein Clan: Specialists in precious metals. • Clan of the Abyss: The most respected and feared, the only ones authorized to mine Vidrian in the dangerous depths. Loyalty to the clan surpasses all. Ascension is achieved through skill in the depths, not by birth.
Distinctive Costumes:
• The Song of the Stone: Before each shift in the deep mines, the miners chant a guttural, rhythmic song, striking their pickaxes on the ground. They believe this "calms the rock's anger" and reveals where the ore is richest. • The Feast of the First Vein: When a significant new vein is discovered, the entire clan celebrates with a feast where food is served on polished stone slabs and the drink is a thick ale called "Mountain Blood". • The Touch of the Void (superstition): The deepest superstition among miners is the fear of the "Listening Void." They believe that, in the deepest layers of the earth, something ancient and inanimate listens to the blows of pickaxes. Whispers, distorted echoes, and the sudden cooling of the air are signs that "The Void is watching." Ignoring these signs and continuing to mine invites disaster.
kingdom of Vhalgrad
KINGDOM OF VHALGRAD: The Hammer of the South
The Warrior-King
King Alaric Vhalgard, the Unharmed. A man of fifty winters, whose body is a map of scars and whose posture is that of an armed mountain. It is said that a mystical arrow slid from his chest at the Battle of Blood Gorge, cementing his legend as the "Chosen by the God-Forger to lead the March." He rules not from the throne, but from the Hall of Strategy, a vast hall with a map of Aethelgard carved into the floor, where pieces of iron represent his armies. He is just, merciless, and firmly believes that war is the only way for humans to forge their destiny in a hostile world.
Culture: Iron Forges Man
Vhalgrad society is a pyramid of military merit, known as the Wheel of Ascension.
• The Base (Raw Iron): Peasants and artisans. They can rise by sending a son into military service. • The Corps (the Tempered Steel): Professional soldiers, veterans. They earn respect and small plots of conquered land. • The Tip (the Blade): The Iron Knights, the elite. Anyone, from the son of a peasant to the second son of a nobleman, can become a Knight by performing an Iron Feat—an act of bravery proven in battle. An Iron Knight is automatically a nobleman. • The Apex (the Hammer): The King and his Lord-Marshals, all proven Iron Knights.
Distinctive Costumes:
• The Judgment of Iron: Serious disputes between nobles are resolved in single combat, with weapons of unsharpened iron. Victory is seen as a sign of divine favor. • The Feast of Shields: After a victory, a feast is held where soldiers eat from overturned shields, and tales of bravery are sung. The greatest hero of the battle has the right to drink first from the Horn of Alaric. • The Night of Lamentations (superstition): It is believed that, on the eve of a great battle, the spirits of the dead of Vhalgrad whisper advice. Soldiers leave a crumb of bread and a drop of oil outside their tents.
inhabitants of Aethelgard: the magicians
The Magical Ones are a category of rarer beings, not so commonly seen. Gnomes: they look like little people, thick and grizzled beards (this doesn't mean they are old, it's just something common in gnomes of any and all ages), rosy cheeks, always laughing and cheerful, wear red, pointy hats, live in little houses made of mushrooms, are very festive and playful like some species, but are also great farmers. Unicorns: they are "horses" with sharp, shiny, and colorful horns on their foreheads, extremely magical and very rare, can communicate via telepathy, can fly and have wings, are calm and docile beings. Pegasi: they are like unicorns, but don't have horns, yet still have wings and are full of ancient and powerful magic. What do these three have in common? They are so rare that even the oldest elders of Aethelgard have never seen these species, and if they have, they were labeled as mad.
inhabitants of Aethelgard: the cavernous
The Cavernous lives obviously underground, in caves, ravines, etc. Crusher Worms: they are giant worms that have no eyes, ears, or nose, only large mouths full of sharp teeth that serve to crush rocks and flesh, they are so irrational that they don't know what they are, what they do, where they are, they don't think, and do nothing but create giant tunnels with their body and their crusher-like mouth, billions of years of evolution found a way for them to reproduce asexually, so they don't need partners to lay eggs inside the cellars. Cavernous: they are distorted monsters that have no pattern, each one evolved differently from the others that live in the dark, they don't drink and don't eat, but they are extremely hostile and aggressive.
inhabitants of Aethelgard: the arcane
The arcane, or mystics, are all and anyone who can use magic, examples include: black magic, arcane magic, ancestral magic, natural magic, and mystical magic. Wizards: They are humans who have learned how to use magic, but remain human; they are the lowest species in the world of magic, arrogant, narcissistic, and convinced of their vast knowledge Arcane skills, studied and trained for years, are enough to fight any creature that uses magic.
inhabitants of Aethelgard: the arnios
The Arnios live in the air, or, can fly. Dragons: giants, have an impenetrable and hard scaly skin, large wings that can cause hurricanes and earthquakes when taking flight, breathe fire, can speak, extremely grumpy and lazy, almost never appear, mainly sleep in caves full of gold and jewels. Hippogriff: Zarel, the ONLY hippogriff in all of Aethelgard, has a horse's body with feathers, front legs of a chicken, hind legs of a deer, head of a falcon, wings of an eagle, tail of a lion, solitary, but is always seen flying through the skies of Aethelgard.
Additional mystical/fictional flying creatures:
Griffins: Majestic creatures with the body, tail, and hind legs of a lion, combined with the head, wings, and talons of an eagle. They are fiercely territorial, build nests in high mountain peaks, and are known as noble but formidable guardians of treasure and sacred places.
Phoenixes: Magnificent, immortal birds of fire, often compared to eagles or herons with brilliant scarlet and gold plumage. They are symbols of renewal, as they periodically combust and are reborn from their own ashes. Their tears are said to have potent healing properties.
Thunderbirds: Legendary birds of immense size and power from various mythologies, often associated with storms. Their massive wings are said to create thunder, and the flapping can bring torrential rain and lightning. They are considered divine messengers or powerful spirits of the sky.
inhabitants of Aethelgard: the marines
Marine creatures are those that live in lakes, rivers, the sea, etc. Mermaids and mermen: humanoid upper half, lower half an aquatic tail, supernatural beauty, dangerous, use their voice to attract victims, their melodies literally magical and deadly. Sea serpents: as the name suggests, they are giant, violent sea snakes. Krakens: they are colossal-sized octopuses, super aggressive, attack boats in the middle of the sea with their tentacles capable of embracing a building. Sea dragons: they are similar to dragons that live outside the water, but their bodies evolved to live underwater, they are dangerous, instead of breathing fire, they spit a corrosive marine venom that destroys everything it comes into contact with, without exception. Amidusa: the great queen of the sea, an extremely giant mermaid, her size surpasses that of krakens, extremely powerful and dangerous, but she spends most of her time sleeping in underwater caves, and when she wakes up, she is always in a bad mood. Drowned: they look like hybrids, they have a humanoid appearance mixed with fish, they are violent, and usually appear on the beach coast, they feed on everything that moves near them.
inhabitants of Aethelgard: the land
Terrestrial beings are those who walk the land of Aethelgard. Elves: wise, long-lived (living for millions of years), extremely beautiful, skilled with bows and other weapons, have pointed ears, are very tall, and know nature like no other. Fairies: shorter than 1.30 meters, unpredictable, cheerful, playful, and possess the purest magic; they have shimmering wings on their backs. Trolls: green skin, green or black hair, larger and sharper lower canines, unusual eye colors (yellow, gold, red, etc.), grumpy and bad-tempered, skilled in building weapons and larger structures, and love beer. Age of Spoils - The War for Aethelgard
Four human kingdoms, united by greed and fanaticism, tear apart the magical continent of Aethelgard to plunder its resources and exterminate its native peoples, the Mythic beings.
Each kingdom plays a crucial role in the war machine:
· VHALGRAD (South): The Hammer. Provides brute military force. Its disciplined armies are the spearhead of the invasion, tasked with conquering territories and breaking Mythic resistance on the battlefield. · KHÁZ DUMON (East): The Forge. Provide the resources. Its mines extract the precious Vidrian (magical essence) and metals for weapons and armor, fueling both the war economy and the arcane power of humans. · ARCANUM (West): The Brain. Provides knowledge (and arrogance). Its mages use magic in battle and dictate strategy based on the Bestiary of Therion – a glorious compendium, but full of false information that can lead entire armies to ruin. · NIVEA OF LYS (North): The Pocket. Provides capital and logistics. Finances the war, controls the trade in spoils and Mythic slaves, and maintains the information network. They profit from the conflict and fear its end.
Under this bloody pact, the Church of the Forging God sanctifies the carnage, preaching that the Mythical Ones are demonic "Imperfects" to be purged.
On the other side, the Mythics fight a war for survival, for their own land and existence, while ancient secrets awaken to a terrible revenge.
