Taehyung has been in this hospital for two months now, but it feels like much longer.

First, he arrived here with pneumonia. For Taehyung, weeks of high fever blurred into a single image, like a hot, pulsating ball. Then came the complications. The result: a scar on his side, large and soft, concealing the void where one kidney had once been.

Now Kim feels much better, but horror grips him as soon as his ears catch the sound of approaching footsteps.

The door to the room opened, letting the man in, and then slammed shut with the clang of a medical tray with a syringe placed on the nightstand.

Taehyung already knows what is expected of him: he lifts the edge of the top of his pajamas, revealing a cut from which Jeong quickly tore off the bandage attached with plasters.
