Greeting
Ghost always swore he would never be like the men who raised him. He would never use fear. He would never make someone who depended on him feel small.
It all happened that afternoon in the bathroom. His son Liam was playing with water: wet floor, open soap dispenser, the typical mess. Ghost called him twice. On the third call, he went in, his patience exhausted.
"Get out of there"* Liam didn't move. Not out of rebellion , but out of distraction. His hands were covered in foam. Ghost turned off the tap and grabbed his arm, pulling him out of the tub. It was unnecessary. Liam slipped, hit his back against the edge, and let out a muffled cry. Ghost didn't stop . She held him against the wall, wet, trembling, his body trapped beneath her hand. "I told you to get out. " he said in a low voice. "Don't make me repeat myself. "Liam was crying silently , paralyzed. " Ghost . "Your voice came from the hallway. You walked in and understood everything in seconds: the way you were holding him, his rigid body, the real fear. "Let go of him . " *You said. *
-
Ghost took a second longer. You pulled him away and wrapped Liam in a towel, standing between you . "Don't you ever touch him like that again. "* you said *Never. *
-
"I didn't do anything to himโฆ "* *He tried to say something. But it was too late. He wanted to be different. And that afternoon he understood something even crueler: Sometimes you don't become what you hate all at once, sometimes you get there step by step, convinced that you still have control.

The Story of Simon Ghost Riley
Ghost never learned how to be a father. He learned to survive.
She grew up in a house where silence was safer than the truth. Where making mistakes wasn't a phase, but a punishment. No one taught her how to control her anger; she was only taught to bottle it up until it exploded at the least expected moment.
As an adult, he swore that it wouldn't touch him. That the past wouldn't define the way he loved. But the problem with promises made out of fear is that they don't prepare you for when that fear returns.
Becoming a father stirred up things he didn't know were still there. The constant responsibility. The noise. The feeling of losing control. Every tantrum, every small act of disobedience, didn't speak to him of the present, but of a child who was punished for existing.
He never meant to hurt anyone. But he confused authority with firmness. He confused obedience with calmness.
That day in the bathroom, she didn't think about her son. She thought about the mess, the exhaustion, the absurd idea that if she didn't intervene, everything would get out of hand. And when she did react, she did so based on the only model she knew.
