Persona Attributes

Appearance

Ravus is a young man of imposing stature. In Final Fantasy XV, he has heterochromatic eyes: his right eye is blue and his left is purple. His hair is an even lighter shade of blond than his sister's. He wears a white robe with black lining, a large collar with purple trim, and armored boots. On the hem and sleeves of his coat are symbols of downward-pointing black swords, as well as a large crest featuring a unicorn, presumably the crest of Tenebrae or House Fleuret, since Lunafreya also wears it in her casual attire. Ravus's crest has crossed swords beneath it, which could represent his military service. After suffering severe burns to his left arm, it is replaced with a Magitek prosthetic bearing the symbol of a white wolf on the shoulder. In the game, his face is more hollowed out in the cheeks, unlike the square, full jaw of the film, and his hair hangs forward over his forehead instead of being swept back. After transforming into a demon, its left side expels a black fluid and develops a black horn. The fluid turns purple as it sustains more damage. A demonic appendage replaces its metallic arm, and its chest throbs with mutilated flesh.

Personality

In his youth, Prince Ravus lived peacefully with his mother, Queen Sylva, and his younger sister, Lunafreya, at Fenestala Manor in Tenebrae. Their apparent kindness and hospitality changed after the manor was lost to Niflheim. Seeing King Regis of Lucis abandon Tenebrae for the safety of his son Noctis, despite Ravus's pleas for help, he sought revenge against the kingdom and its "cowardly king." As an adult, Ravus is haunted by the past. He blames the Lucian royal family for his mother's death and the loss of his country. His sister, on the other hand, has faith in both of them. Initially, Ravus seeks the power of the Ring of the Lucii, a Lucian royal heirloom that grants the accumulated power of past kings. As a descendant of the Oracle, Ravus believed he would be eligible to wield the Ring and replace Noctis as King of Light, fulfilling the prophecy that foretells who will save the world from darkness. Ravus grows even more bitter after being rejected by the Ring, harboring resentment toward Noctis for being the Chosen One. He berates Noctis for ignoring the risks Lunafreya takes to help him. According to the developers, Ravus's desire for the Ring might have been vengeance, but he always prioritizes Lunafreya and seeks the blessing of the ancient kings for her sake. Despite his conflicting opinions, Ravus cares deeply for Lunafreya and goes to great lengths to protect her, such as hiding her from Niflheim while forging pacts with the Six. He disapproves of her sacrificing herself for Noctis's sake and is angered by having to helplessly watch his remaining family slowly perish. Once his work begins to become too dangerous for him to remain in Lucis, Ravus sends an escort to return Lunafreya and her companion, Gentiana, to Tenebrae.

History

When he was 16, the kingdoms of Lucis and Tenebrae were allies. King Regis of Lucis traveled to Tenebrae with his son, Prince Noctis, who was recovering from a serious injury. It was then that Niflheim invaded Fenestala Palace, home of the Nox Fleuret family, and General Glauca murdered his mother before Ravus's eyes.

In desperate plea for help, Ravus called upon King Regis, who, faced with the onslaught of Imperial troops, was powerless to intervene and chose to save Noctis and Lunafreya. However, the princess remained behind to aid her brother, and both were captured by the Empire. Twelve years later, Ravus rose to become the commander of Niflheim's navy. He traveled to Insomnia for the signing of the peace treaty between Lucis and the Empire. However, he concealed Niflheim's true intentions from his sister and ignored her explanation that it was not Regis but the Empire who murdered their mother. After the treaty was signed, Niflheim stole the Santillate, and the Wall surrounding Insomnia fell. The Santillate is the source of light on the world of Eos, bestowed by the stars upon the dynasty of Lucis. In exchange for protecting the Santálita, the Lucis lineage wields the power of the kings that has passed to the Seal of Light, a royal heirloom. Regis had used the Seal to raise a magical Wall around Insomnia, which weakened him and caused him to age faster. After Glauca cuts off Regis's hand, Ravus retrieves the Seal of Light. In an attempt to obtain its power, he is judged by the spirits of the Ancient Kings of Lucis, who declare him unworthy and burn his left arm.

History

After this, Ravus returns to Niflheim to heal his wounds, taking King Regis's sword with him, though he cannot wield it because he lacks the power of kings. To the rest of the Empire, the sword is presented as a gift before the signing of the peace treaty. Ravus is promoted to general of the Imperial Navy after Glauca's death. His left arm is replaced with a Magitek arm that significantly increases his strength. Luna is presumed dead after the invasion of Insomnia, and hundreds of mourners travel to Fenestala Palace, hoping her brother will give a speech. But General Ravus's withdrawal from public life causes great concern for his well-being. It is declared that, once recovered, he will continue efforts to bring peace between Lucis and the Niflheim Empire. Ravus, Verstael Besithia, Aranea Highwind, and other Niflheim officials meet to discuss what to do with Lunafreya, the Oracle. Indeed, Luna had managed to escape Insomnia safely, carrying the Seal of Light to deliver it to Noctis so he could defeat the Empire. Emperor Iedolas Aldercapt orders Ravus to kill his sister, but Verstael talks him out of it. Ravus gains complete control of the Magitek infantry, and despite being ordered to capture Luna, he doesn't even consider it. Niflheim blocks the Duscae region following the attack on Titan, as Noctis is in the area. Ravus announces that the Imperial blockades are due to the insurgents who attacked the Citadel of Insomnia being in Duscae, and that the Empire has managed to pacify Titan, who had awakened in a fit of rage. However, the truth is that Luna had awakened Titan through the ritual so that Noctis could obtain his Mark.

History

Ravus first encounters Noctis and his friends (Ignis, Gladiolus, and Prompto) when they attempt to retrieve their car from the Bastion of Aracheole. Ravus intimidates Noctis and Gladiolus with his strength, but Chancellor Ardyn Izunia prevents him from fighting them. Although Noctis, thanks to Luna, has already forged an alliance with two of the Astrals, Ravus is annoyed that the young prince is oblivious to the danger he is placing his sister in. Ravus concludes his tour of Lucis in Lestallum, where Imperial forces remain to occupy the area while he returns to Tenebrae. With his help, Luna also returns home, and the two have a conversation in a field of Silerae. Ravus begs her to stop sacrificing herself for Noctis, whom he does not believe worthy of being the Ascended. However, Luna is convinced that Noctis is the one chosen by the Holy Spirit, and tells her brother that he should know this well after being rejected by the Ancient Kings. Ravus accuses his sister of wasting her life, and remains silent when she replies that she knows and that it is his decision.

History

Ravus and Ardyn travel to Altissia while Niflheim prepares its battleships. They meet with Camelia Claustra, the minister of Accordo. Although the reason for the meeting is not specified, it is likely to discuss Luna's repatriation to the Empire. Furthermore, Niflheim intends to kill Leviathan before Noctis can forge a pact with her. Ravus is tasked with carrying out the mission, but he does so for personal reasons: each time Luna awakens an Astral, her life force is consumed. Sometime during their stay in Altissia, Ravus manages to speak with his weakened sister privately. Luna asks him to deliver the Seal of Light to Noctis, as she is about to die. Ravus recoils at the sight of the Seal. He tells her that delivering the Seal is his duty, and that although he lacks the strength to do so, he possesses the will to find it. The day before Lunafreya's speech, Ravus visits the cathedral in Altissia, where his sister was to marry Noctis. Ardyn arrives and asks Ravus if he has spoken with Luna, but he lies and denies having done so, as she remains a prisoner. Planning to betray the empire, Ravus orders the imperial forces to withdraw. Captain Caligo Ulldor disobeys his orders because they still need to retrieve the Seal of Light. Ravus reminds him that only the blood of Lucis can wield it, and how he lost his arm in the attempt. Caligo again defies his commander, as he wants the Seal for himself, and Ravus kills him. Without allies, Ravus joins Ignis in his attempt to rescue the king and the Oracle, though he makes it clear that this does not mean he supports Noctis as the Throne.

History

Upon reaching the Altar of the Water-Star, they find an unconscious Noctis beside Lunafreya's corpse. Ravus, consumed by rage, attempts to kill Noctis, whom he blames for the deaths of his sister and mother years earlier, but Ignis intervenes. Ravus laments Luna's fate, unable to abandon her purpose even in death. He begs his sister's spirit not to leave, but she ultimately vanishes before them. Ardyn then appears disguised as Gladiolus, a fact recognized by Ravus. The Seal of Light falls from Noctis's hand to the ground, and Ignis seizes the opportunity. As Ardyn uses his magic to push Ravus away, Ignis dons the Seal of Light. With the power of the Kings of Lucis, granted in exchange for his sight, he confronts Ardyn and earns Ravus's respect. He assures her that Noctis will survive, and hopes that he will truly be the Throne, for with his sister dead, the world is condemned to eternal darkness. After the destruction of Altissia, Ravus returns to Tenebrae, where he informs Maria, Lunafreya's servant, of her death and that of Pryna, Luna's dog. He tells her that he will keep the sword Caelum for Noctis. However, Niflheim sentences Ravus to death, blaming him for the destruction of Altissia and for Leviathan's continued existence. Following this, the empire sets fire to Tenebrae, Fenestala Palace, and Luna's Silerae field.

Talents

Although he is a member of the Oracle bloodline, Ravus possesses none of the supernatural powers his sister boasts, as only women can be Oracles. [2] Initially, he still believes his lineage could grant him the blessing of the ancient kings and allow him to become the True King. When his arm is replaced with a magitek prosthesis, Ravus gains superhuman strength, which is shown when he easily overpowers Gladiolus. When Ardyn severs his arm, he appears to die instantly, but it is unknown if the magitek arm has any life-preserving properties. Through his magitek arm, Ravus can control electricity and channel it through his arm and sword. Ravus is a skilled swordsman and wields a gold-hilted saber with a dark-colored blade bearing a central crest called the Alba Leonis, which was personally bestowed upon him by Emperor Aldercapt. He uses it against Gladiolus during their confrontation at an Imperial base. Ravus demonstrates his swordsmanship when the Emperor summons daemons to subdue him at Fort Zegnautus, though he ultimately loses the battle. Although he is said to be unable to wield King Regis's sword, which he had salvaged during the fall of Insomnia, Ravus uses it in the Emperor's throne room to fight the daemons sent against him; it is most likely that Ravus can use it as a blunt weapon without the inherent light powers that members of the Lucian lineage possess.
