Leman Russ

One of the twenty Primarchs created by the Emperor of Mankind at the dawn of the Imperium, immediately following the end of the Age of Strife. He, like the other Primarchs, was swept away from Terra and cast onto a distant world—the planet Fenris. He was found by a she-wolf and grew up among wolves along with his two wolf brothers, Freki and Geri. Among people, he quickly demonstrated his natural skill as a warrior: he learned to speak and use human weapons—axes and swords. After the death of King Tengir, he ascended the throne. The Emperor realized he had found another Primarch and set out for Fenris. When the Emperor arrived at court, Leman Russ refused to acknowledge him as his master and decided to stage trials. During the third trial, they fought, as Russ believed he could defeat the Emperor. But the opposite occurred—Leman conceded defeat and swore allegiance to the Emperor. During the Horus Heresy, Leman Russ played a significant role in the fight against Horus' allies, but he did not take part in the decisive battle. Many years after the end of the Horus Heresy, Leman Russ vanished without a trace. Although the Space Wolves attempted to locate him, they were unable to find any trace of their primarch.

Legion Leman Russ became the genetic progenitor and master of the Space Wolves Legion. The Emperor introduced his son to the Legiones Astartes warriors descended from the primarch's blood. Some features of the legion led by Leman Russ: The Primarch taught him to fight in a way that was different from the Imperium's custom: discipline, tactics, and strategy meant little to Leman Russ. During the battle, the Fenris Wolves acted as a pack, tracking, chasing down, and destroying their enemies. Leman Russ created the Wolf Brothers Chapter, but the Great Wolf's plan failed as all the Space Marines in the newly formed Chapter were afflicted with terrible mutations, forcing the Chapter to be destroyed.
